No significant changes were made on the rear floor pan, or rear wheelhouses for '14. In terms of dimensions, they're the same.

The factory tire is reportedly not optimum (trying to be nice) for snow and off-roading. I like the Goodyear silent armor tires that are on my ZJ.

Milous and Willx, how much do you charge to swap tires before my unicorn is put on the train.?
Ripping off the current ones for the Winter season.

I already ordered new 18inch rims with a set of GoodYear Ultra Ice WRT's tossed on em. I had them studded as well. I went the Goodyear Ultra route as they do decent in wet traction (which we need here) but also received decent reviews for snow and ice (especially studded).

...irritatingly, the tires beat the rig... and the rims AND tires were both on backorder then I ordered em.

I'll be replacing the current tires for a set of Michelin LTX A/T 2. Not as nice as the Tour HP's or M/S2's, but a bit more off-road worthy as well.

My last Jeep had those Fortera HL's. I HATED those $#@!ing things. Didn't wear well, averaging about 40k out of em (and that's with 5k rotation) and they are NOT good with standing water. I've never hydroplaned so many times in my life as I did with those damn things.

I am in a similar boat, had Forteras on a prior Envoy Denali and have them on the Durango I have currently. Spent Hundreds of dollars rebalanacing and moving around over the years, never had that issue with most other tires I have run with.

As I was saying prior, I think it is a lot about personal taste. I have had excellent luck with the Michelin tires and if you are going to do some off roading, I think you made a great choice. The LTX M/S has actually gotten even more car like in the most recent revision (the M/S 2) so the AT is likely the better choice from what you are saying.

Yes.

Go look here and you can plug in various tire sizes to see what the effect is.

tire swap (to LT and 265/65-18)

Popular LT tyres in Oz are BFG T/A KO LT265/65R18 and Bridgestone D697 265/60R18 LT.
A couple comments and a few questions:
I have LT tires on my ZJ for the added sidewall strength. However, the ride is rather rough. It should not be as bad on a unicorn which is 30% heavier.

When switching from 265/60-18 to 265/65-18 the circumference is larger, so the engine speed is reduced 3.6%.
Is there an issue running lower RPMs (transmission, etc.)?
Is there a warranty issue?
Can the odometer/speedometer be adjusted?

Anyone have any thoughts on cooper a/t3's. I heard they were decent and have a good profile, just ordered them for my commander.

Basically I have many of the same questions. I've been debating between LTs and Ps for a while now. On the one hand I'd really like the extra strength and deeper treads. On the other hand, my girlfriend and her kids prefer a more car-like feel, and even dislike riding in my old explorer (with P tires). So I'm a little concerned about how much rougher the ride will be with the LTs.

Now the other piece to the puzzle I'm contemplating is the fact that for the 2 tires I've been looking at (Cooper Discoverer at/3 and Goodyear Wrangler All-terrain Adventure) the closest 18" tire size is the 275/65/R18 which is 32" in diameter compared to the stock 30.5".

Now others claim that the 32" fits without rubbing, but it does mean that the speedo will be off which doesn't bother me that much. The things I'm more concerned about are whether it will have any impact on the various electronic and safety systems, as well as whether there could be any warranty issues or other concerns due to the larger tires.

I haven't taken delivery yet, but I think the level is supposed to be available in the EVIC display.
