V-tail, looks great - we do good work

For everyone with the Key fob problems - like accidentally setting off the panic alarm, or coming out to an unwanted started vehicle, here is the solution. I took V-tails advise and ordered a FOB jacket, and it works great. Tested it last night, and it takes a lot more pressure on the button to activate the FOB.
Go to thejacketstore.com and order ddga76 and it fits the 2014 JGC FOB perfectly.

Hmmm, still waiting to test my own advice as I haven't received mine yet:-) ps. If you want to increase the amount of pressure required even further, get a small can of Plasti-Dip and dip the key fob with the jacket into the stuff (letting it dry inbetween coats) until you get the thickness and pressure you want. I like using this stuff on tools to put a nice rubber/plastic handle on things like pliers that don't have a nice grip or they came off.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Not sure how many people saw this from the Jeep email:
Jeep Capabilities - Eco Diesel Calculator for Mileage & Fuel Costs

You can enter how many miles you commute and it will calculate fuel savings. I put in my old pre-retirement commute milage (38/day) and savings is only $120/year. Not enough to justify a diesel, but I wanted one anyway so it is irrelevant to me personally.

Then I got curious as to what were they comparing this to and if the calculation included the extra cost of the diesel engine - it doesn't. I worked the calculation backward to determine the assumptions they were using. They are assuming you drive an additional 50% (approximately) besides your commute miles, and they are comparing it (I used the 24 mpg combined rating) to a vehicle that gets a combined city/hwy mileage of 16mpg, which happens to be exactly what the 4WD 5.7L hemi is rated at. Interesting.....

I think most people who run this calculation will not come up with a number that justifies the extra cost of the diesel. This could have a negative affect on the marketing. I think they'd be better off marketing the other advantages of a diesel rather than focusing on fuel cost savings....

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I must not have better things to do this morning than look at Jeep stuff on the web. I found this "service coupon" finder you might find useful. Of course it will probably be a while until any of us need service but thought it could save some money down the road.
Service Coupons for Jeep®, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, FIAT | Mopar®

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I know the feeling. I have contractors remodeling my bathrooms so off work for a few days just sitting using the laptop while they work. I had to change my avatar to show my old SD diesel to keep with the theme of things...

So the finance guy didn't know my jeep was a diesel so the lifetime is out the window. Has anyone purchased the maxcare 7 yr/100k mile and how much did you get it for. Also someone was talking about the CNA lifetime but that's only for dealerships that use them right?

Could u shot a picture of that Pro-tect film installed and post it

I got the 8yr/120K for $2k from Ziegler (you can order it online through them, you don't have to go through your dealer - though if your dealer can match the price, no reason not to let them ... my dealer said there was no way he could match).

Yeah think we are going with the 8/120 as well. Here's a quick pick of the SFU with pro-tect. We love it so far but it is kind of pricey. Lifetime warranty though. I'll get a closer pic but it's virtually invisible, had a hard time not putting wax on it cause I couldn't see the seam.

I've got about 400 miles on my SFU. A couple of times now I've noticed the instantaneous mpg display showing 18-19 mpg going down a fairly level stretch of highway for a short period of time. Normally it would be hovering near 30mpg. Is this a regen taking place? It doesn't seem to last very long, maybe a couple/few minutes.
