Wonderful.
Same here. I'm going to insist on the dealer delivering me an original Chrysler document with the PIN. I'm not happy that the keys to my SFU kingdom (literally) are in a dump truck on their way to a landfill.

I assume you've already done so but in case you haven't search through your green Jeep user guide pouch located in the upper shelf of the glove box for your key fob pin. Mine was in there.

Ps. Once you find it take a picture of it with your phone and keep the original in a safe place.

Can you describe how does it look? I have a little 2x4 paper in the pouch with a barcode at the top, my VIN, a 3 digit number and a 5 digit number. Is that it? It sure doesn't look like it. The PIN should be a 4 digit number. This one Looks more like a production line release slip (it says "OUTBOUND").

It's a white 2" x 2.5" sticker with two barcodes, one at the top and one on the bottom. Beneath the top barcode is some alphanumeric id and below that are two 4 digit numbers. Not sure which one is the PIN or maybe both are, anyway the sales women told me those numbers were what I needed if I ever had to get a new fob. The sticker is affixed to a ziplock bag labeled "KEEP IN VEHICLE FOR CUSTOMER USE". For obvious reasons I didn't want to post a picture of mine. Hope that helps.

One of the two key fobs I got with my GC has a white paper tag attached to it with a four-digit pin in 1/2" high letters printed on it. I don't know if the dealer put that on the FOB or the factory. There is also a blue laminated tag with the last 8 digits of the VIN and a 5-digit number preceded by the letter D. Not sure what that is. But I assume these are all important things to keep in the file cabinet, not in the vehicle...

From the owner's manual:

"At the time of purchase, the original owner is provided with a four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). Keep the PIN in a secure location. This number is required for authorized dealer replacement of Key Fobs. Duplication of Key Fobs may be performed at an autho- rized dealer. This procedure consists of programming a blank Key Fob to the vehicle electronics. A blank Key Fob is one that has never been programmed."

When I asked for the PIN my dealer told me they've never heard of this and replacement key fobs are programmed according to the VIN. Based on my dealership's general lack of knowledge about the vehicle, I tend not to believe them.
I had to ask my dealer for the PIN Number. They sent it the following day.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

This is a true story. It is also Friday evening and the first post all day. We just got back from an interesting trip to Western Pennsylvania where we left to this past Tuesday. Normally, it is roughly a 6.5 hour trip from NJ to Franklin PA. About 1.5 hours into the trip I got an EVIC message “DEF system needs dealer maintenance vehicle will not restart in 200 miles”. This continued at a much faster rate than we were traveling and, after some phone calls, it was at 135 miles left when I stopped at a dealer in Harrisburgh which was along the way.

At first the dealer said “we have just had someone with that problem, the computer misreads the DEF level, we will reset it and have you back on the road in an hour go enjoy a breakfast”. An hour later I find out that my DEF injector valve is cracked, that it is listed as unavailable until January 5th, that the mechanic says that it is made of plastic or composite not metal, and that it was either defective from the start, broke from the stress of the 500 miles I have driven it, or got hit by a rock and broke.

I was even fortunate that a Jeep service and parts manager for a multi dealership area happened to be in that dealership in Harrisburg when I pulled in. He is trying to pull some strings and have a DEF injector valve sidetracked from production and sent directly to the dealership. Apparently, our SFUs are so new that none of these spare parts are at the dealerships.

The dealership did pay for a rental on Jeep's tab until the part comes in. They were extremely nice and understanding. However, all things being said, I would rather not have to know that. So, here I sit waiting for my SFU to be repaired, possibly until the part arrives on Jan 5th OR hopefully earlier if he can divert a part shipment.

PS: I believe that this is the price that I am paying for being an early adopter. I also believe that the DEF system is obviously a work in progress if the mechanic believes that the DEF injector could have been cracked by a stray rock or if the injector is not made of metal period. Either situation is a situation that should be fixed. I was very lucky, I had 200 miles warning, I was traveling when a dealership was open, I found one along my route, they were helpful in getting a rental car and are paying for it, I have the direct phone number for the regional service and parts manager, while they have it they are going to fix my climate control (Once the engine warms up the climate control blows only cold air unless the heat setting is set to high), and I still got to have a hot sub at Leonardo’s in Franklin. However, it is frustrating waiting again for my SFU for what will likely be over a month.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Sorry to hear this and hope Jeep gets a handle on this quick. I am expecting late JAN delivery and also some teething issues.
I wonder if the HVAC system is suffering air in the lines which is pretty common on some cars and trucks which renders the climate control system worthless until purged.
Hope they get you back on the road soon.
Does seem that the dealership is working hard to get you going...

Big time PITA, Kaziii. Sorry this happened to you. But yes, sometimes this is the price we pay for being early adopters. Glad I was able to purchase mine near home, so if something like this happens to me, I'm not far from home. Will probably put on a lot of miles before attempting a longer trip. Please keep us in the loop on how things progress. Other than the "Vehicle Phone Requires Service" pop up I get once or twice a day, everything is working great. I will probably have to take it in and have them look at that, but it isn't affecting anything at this point.

ps. Shannon and I along with our wives took the SFUs out for a little romp today. Did a two mile hike then went to dinner. Had a great time and will be doing it again.

Kazii - do you have skid plates installed on your SFU?

Can someone post some info like photo or illustration of this part and a diagram showing where it is located?
