Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Congrats. I loved the white but my last two rides were white.
Enjoy and how about an owners report when you get a few miles on her?

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

One thing I do when I don't have flipper wipers (like my '01 Ram 2500)...tennis balls. Stick one under each wiper arm to keep the blade lifted off the glass. They're bright enough that even a simple mind like mine notices them before I drive off and try to toggle the wipers on

Another member on the "first oil change" thread reported the same problem:

When i reset the oil life indicator in the EVIC i first tried the procedure listed for "diesel (export model)" and it did not reset anything. Then i used the other '3 gas pedal depression' procedure. The mileage since last reset zeroed out when i did that but the "73% oil life" number has not changed or reset to 100%. Is that normal? Thanks.
Here is his follow up post:

Best to get the early break-in oil and filter out of there. Judging by the fact that the oil life indicator was at 73% with less than 1000 miles on the car it seems the system was reading the break-in oil as more contaminated (for lack of a better term) than most oil change intervals because it would have barely made 3500 miles before triggering an alert if it stayed at that rate of oil life percentage decline. Assuming it has to get to zero to trigger the change oil alert but it may trigger before it gets to zero, anybody know?

Question Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Ok, I love the diesel. I went from an Armada to the GCD and absolutely love it. My little pet peeve so far is this: The selectors for volume / change station on the back side of the steering wheel are LOUD! The clicking noise is quite annoying. Is it just mine or have you too noticed how LOUD they are?

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Yeah...they click quite a bit.

Had a neat warning pop up on the EVIC tonight. Hella-foggy out, visibility measured in feet. EVIC bongs at me, warning pops up "Limited ACC / FCW function - please clean windshield". My wipers were on since it was...well...foggy. So I knew the windshield was clean. Guess the system doesn't like being blinded by fog any more than the human behind the wheel!

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

That is a really interesting result. This is supposed to be a radar system and all I can say is that the fog must have attenuated the radar enough to cut the distance it can see way back. I know there is no camera system like the Subaru Outback and Forester in the JGC but guessing this is a safety warning when the system can't cope...

The JGC also has the Bosch's "Multi purpose camera" which can be spotted peeping from a clear 1 square inch in the front windshield mirror base. According to Bosch's brochure, the camera is used for intelligent headlight control, objet detection supporting and improving radar functions such as ACC/FCW. So our ACC/FCW seems to be both optical and RF.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Didn't know that. That does make it a multi-sensor sensor system which is impressive for the cost. Where did you find this info? I must have missed it in the almost 700 page manual.
Learn something everyday but the JGC at least once a day...

The manual doesn't state the name of the subsystem manufacturer. Some Googling will get you to some sources (Wikipedia shows on top) that indicate that the ACC system is Bosch based. From there, you can go to the Bosch manufacturer brochures for the Predictive Emergency Breaking System and Driver Assist systems and identify the parts we have in our JGC's, namely the two mid-range radar sensors in the back, the easily identifiable long-range radar sensor in the front, and the mono camera in the mirror base.
