Hadn't heard the 'Doctor Killer" label in a lot of years! Also need to include stagger-wing Beech in that list....

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Mine did the regen warning on my first test drive with 25 miles on the odo. The check engine light also came on at the same time. I Had to drop it off at service and take a loaner home.

Am I crazy to try this?
I hope not. I plan on changing the oil myself. I am at 50% oil life, so you are ahead of me. I already bought oil (amazon) and a filter (factorymoparparts), and just ordered two more filters at the $30 price to carry in case I do a cross-country trip and need one.

(BTW, I checked with my local dealer today and he said that the oil filter PN 68109834AA has been superceded by PN 68229402AA which is $60. I believe the later is an old export PN. Thus, he is way wrong and I don't trust them to change the oil.)

Most excellent and congrats! I've got 4,000 on mine now and still love it. Getting around 24 - 25 mpg now driving around town, and we're still having winter temps and winter fuel blend. I'm hoping it will continue to improve even more. If I could have gotten the Overland with the brown interior that's what I would have gotten, but I'm super happy with my Summit.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Thanks Vtail - I was going to get the Summit too, because of the speaker/amp upgrade. But my wife and I both fell in love with the Indigo Blue interior, so I figured I could always upgrade the Overland speakers and amp if I'm not happy with them later. There's a lot of aftermarket speakers and amps out there. I too would have been happy with either a Summit or an Overland. They are awsome vehicles.

From reading other threads, it appears that upgrading audio amps on the RA3/4 based systems is not as simple as most thought it would be. There are some odd interfaces evolved.

I'm down to 15% on my oil life, so getting ready for the first oil change. I called a couple dealers, including the one where I purchased my Summit. One said the price was only $99, so I asked if they were using a full synthetic that met Chrysler's MS-11106 spec. He then changed the price to $129. Another dealer said they've been working on these engines for years. I asked how can that be since the engine is new here in the U.S.? Bottom line is that I just don't trust the dealers that they know what they are doing with these Ecodiesel engines. Even though I won't save much money, and it will take more time, I'm thinking of changing the oil myself. At least I'll know the right oil is being used. I did send a note on this to the GM of the dealership where I purchased the Jeep. Will be interesting to see his response.

BTW, I just purchased a diesel John Deere tractor to do work around my property. The stable is now full of diesels and I joined the "green tractor talk" forum. Another great resource with guys/gals as nutty about their tractors as we are about our Jeeps.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I am taking mine in tomorrow for my first oil change. I will talk directly to the tech changing the oil to make sure he uses the right oil, right oil filter, and waits the 30 minutes for the oil to drain in.
