Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Love the new EcoDiesel. 940km on first tanků..I see that the DEF injector will be an issue (mine cracked and sprayed DEF all over the underside at 580km) in the future until they install a cover/skid plate.
Wish there was better skid plate coverage - side note.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Woo hoo! I have an ETA of 4/22/2014. Let's hope they're close, my lease gets turned in on 4/20. :-)

OK, I will now attempt to NOT watch the daily updates forum. The watched pot and all that...:-)

Zhe Wiz, Not trying to be negative and a downer, but realistically the likelyhood of 4/22 is about 1%. My suggestion is to review some of the delivery times of those that are currently out there. Do not set your hopes to high (soon) as you are likely to be disappointed. I would plan on extending your lease.

It appears you are happy with yours, Congratulations.

I hope to be in the same position soon.

Don't worry, not counting my chickens. I've been around here long enough to know better. Still, having a date is better than "TBD". At least it feels real now.

I have a plan in place should delivery be delayed by 2-3 months.

LOL, I just would have let the poor guy revel in glory for longer than 34 minutes...

The next day after I picked mine up, I bought 4 qts of Penzoil Ultra Euro L 5-30 from the Baytown Jeep dealer. If this wasn't a factory approved lubricant, they wouldn't be selling it. In fact, they had it hidden in a locked cabinet right in front of the parts sales counter; someone with a key had to be located to open it when I was there to pick them up. They had less than 12 qts. then.

Besides, wasn't this (the brand of oil filled by the factory being Pennzoil) covered in another thread? There are a couple of other specific brands that meet the Chrysler spec, AIR, a Shell product being one of them (don't recall if it was Rotella T or not) and a Mobil 1 product.
Recon the dealer is carrying the Penz that you mentioned and it was the extended warranty company that requires the shell rotella T. with 2 free changes I will be sticking with the Penz I think. Actually Mopar promotes the Penzoil brand according to the service dept.

Ahh, an extended warranty program requirement. That 'splains it.

With this one, I'm going to stick with the factory brand, and especially since dealers aren't gouging us for it like they did the gear oil for my ZJ's former D44a (around $25/qt., AIR).

Shell owns Pennzoil, so the warranty company should accept either.

I changed the oil in mine once already. The oil drain plug...honestly just looks like an oil drain plug in an oil pan. If you have ever changed the oil on an automobile before you can't miss it. The change on these is really pretty easy. The only thing to be sure of is that you have a big enough socket to open the filter housing. I just let mine drain 30ish min and wiped the excess from under the filter with a shop rag. Nothing more complicated then any other car about it. One note - if you use ramps, the Quadra Lift will try to self level after a few min...scared the $4!+ out of me.

I say go for it.

My only suggestion is for all you guys is to check this on delivery and have them correct it immediately. The new ownership experience is going to be pretty crappy if your truck starts coming up with warnings a few thousand miles in.

Totally sloppy on the dealer part
Will, the dealer gave me a 1.5 hr orientation and 4 gals of DEF to top off the tank. Very adequate to me. Lovin the rig with only 1K miles
