I just let mine drain 30ish min and wiped the excess from under the filter with a shop rag. Nothing more complicated then any other car about it. One note - if you use ramps, the Quadra Lift will try to self level after a few min...scared the $4!+ out of me. I say go for it.
Disable the air suspension first either in the menus or by holding the up and down buttons together for several seconds. Will save you a pair of shorts

Yeap, one of those things I knew about...but didn't think about until after :-)

Took 3 hours at the dealer, because they also installed 5 flash updates. Good for 10000 miles now (hopefully)
If one does their own oil changes, is there a way to determine what flash updates are needed? Can you check somewhere with the VIN or do you have to take it to the dealer just to find out? Does anybody know?

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

The dealer plugs in a computer to determine what flashes are needed, and to install the flashes. I think this is something that only the dealer can do.

OR... you guys both have a friend that could tell you....

ELSD Update (NO TSB or RRT)
Trans Shift Update (from rolling Reverse to drive shift improvement)
PCM Update, Inclusive of generic controllers (NO TSB or RRT)

FYI, they don't check and or update UNLESS there is a complaint. None of the updates provide anything that important unless you are having an issue with any of those systems. Most of the updates I have seen address vary narrow scope issues. There actually really has not been any major problem update for the EcoDiesel to date.

But either of you guys are welcome to enquire any time about updates, regardless of where you do your maintenance

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I want to have some coolant on hand in case I have a leak. (Be prepared.) Here is my experience buying coolant:

The online sites show the coolant and will allow you to order the coolant, but they are unable to ship the coolant. They say they cannot ship liquids. I tried the sites below. All three canceled my order.
wholesalemopar
moparpartsstore (moparfactoryparts)
moparonlineparts

I ended up buying coolant at a dealer. I bought 1 gal of the concentrate for $57.70. (They had it at $76.12 list price. Crazy.) I got 1 gal of distilled water at Walmart.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Hi guys, just bought the wk2 eco diesel here in Perth Australia. ONny done a few thousand kilometres so far but love it. I previously had a KJ cherokee a few years ago but it went for a fairly deep swim and then caught fire. A plastic clip holding the transmission breather broke off when it hit the deep water and it spurted tranny oil onto the exhaust. Put the fire out with a bottle of orange juice we had in the back. ah well, these things happen. Peter

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Just picked up my 2014 GC 4x4 Limited Eco Diesel on Friday and have to say I love it. But now I have to say that I'm afraid to drive it. Had to take it to Houston on a 400 mile roundtrip yesterday, and on the way home, as I was changing lanes, the car just quit. No acelerator pedal at all. Engine didn't die, just nothing from the gas pedal. Coasted for about 5 seconds and then heard a small click and acelerator worked again. No warning symbols, nothing. Made it home the last 100 miles and thought it was just a one time, however scary thing. It happened twice again today. Moving along fine, then I slowed down a bit, backing off the acelerator, then when I push the acelerator to move, nothing. Again about 5-8 seconds of nothing. Its not turbo lag, its just an absolutely non- working acelerator pedal. The third time, I put it in neutral and the engine did rev, but moving it back to d/s----nothing happens. Its extremely scary to have cars doing 70-80 all around you while you are coasting to a stop. I'm glad it didn't happen while I was merging or crossing a highway intersection. Going into service at dealership tomorrow, but though some of you might have a clue as to what's going on? Its a pretty serious safety issue and I'm pretty bummed out about it.
