Whats a good price for the Ecodiesel right now

I want to trade in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 v6 ORII for the same with an Ecodiesel. What are some of the prices have you paid vs MSRP? I'm looking to get a very good deal since I'd be doing a trade in with my 2014. Has anyone traded in a 2014 for an ecodiesel yet?? I'm in socal.

Re: Whats a good price for the Ecodiesel right now

Highest "good price" would be 1% below invoice for a straight affiliate discount without dickering...but many folks get a lot better than that, especially with the group buys; as much as 6-7% below invoice. NEVER look at "off MSRP" when you are pricing out a vehicle...your reference point should always be invoice price.

That said, your trade is going to heavily affect your out the door price and that's a "funny dance" sometimes because dealers don't like to be overly generous on trades, no matter what.

I have affiliate rewards (1% percent off of invoice) and when I purchased my Jeep I got about 3.5% under invoice. Since I want to buy a Limited 4x4 Ecodiesel, I'm forced to also buy the Luxury Group II package. I'm hoping there is more room for negotiation.

BTW, what are the invoice prices for the ecodiesels right now?

Re: Whats a good price for the Ecodiesel right now

I would suggest you work with the same folks (including sales person and sales manager) you bought your current JGC from as a start and "expect" to get at least the same deal from them..."expect" meaning you let them know that up front. Since they know your current vehicle, presumably they will also feel more comfortable with being able to get a quick sale on it used after your trade. It's all about negotiation...

The Texas group buy gets you 5.5% below INVOICE. PM me if you want the dealer info.

Re: Whats a good price for the Ecodiesel right now

I'm in SoCal and just picked up an Overland Exodiesel for $1600 under invoice at Huntington Beach Jeep. Ask for Rob Tractman and see what he can do for you. My take is that you can find a good deal on a new one but your trade is going to be a PITA. Have you considered private party sale instead of trading?

I might have to go that route. I've been speaking to a dealer and they only offered me 31-32k for my trade in which I don't think is enough.

Re: Whats a good price for the Ecodiesel right now

You lose the most value in the first year of ownership.

A same-year trade will be dismal. I used to have folks try and trade same-year Harley's all the time when I worked for HD/Buell. "but...I paid XXX for it..."

"Yeah, but I can get a brand new one from the factory for XX less than you want on trade...and yours is *used*..."
