^^I think he's on the red ticket?

Bain capital are closing a US plant and moving the jobs to China. Plant makes sensors for cars, 190 jobs I think.

who has a hand in Bain in this election?

Take your 20% tax cut and use the money to pay all the deductions you'll lose.

Hypothetically speaking, who would end up paying the unemployment benefits, etc. for the 100,000+ GM/Chrysler employees that would have lost their jobs in the event the companies had been allowed to fail. Let's not even consider the other third-party suppliers that Toyota and others said would have failed due to the massive loss of business...

Sorry, regardless of your political affiliation both Bush and Obama had it right.

How about the workers go get another job instead of relying on the gov for a handout?

I don't know what the fallout would have been if nothing was done because it did not happen. I do know that I don't agree with the gov butting into everyone's business though.

I won't vote for any of the 2 clowns running for office, I am voting for Mickey Mouse.
I felt the same way until I thought about it. There was a lot more at stake then just the name. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were saved.
And I believe all the money lent out has been repaid.
I agree, they were right.

Re: Message From Sergio Marchionne Regarding Jeep Production

I'm not entering into the political debate. However, if they would have gone under the amount of jobs would have been 10x. People don't realize that some of the tier 1 suppliers for the auto industry are about as big as the automakers themselves. Plus, dealerships and all nearby businesses that make money off them.

slippery slope IMO. Don't think we want to go down that route. Where does it end?

And what companies were hiring at that time?

another private owner would step in and run it the right way IMO. The initial jobs may have been lost but that void would have been filled pretty quickly. And if it wasn't, then maybe it was too inflated in the first place.

I agree. It is and we ( whoever is in office) needs to be careful.

If it keeps going down this route (which it might), this thread might be best moved out of the WK2 section and into the "Off Topic section". Just a thought

yup, I would agree, the election is really making this topic to political.

Will move when I get back home.
Unfortunately everything now a days ( until next week) . Is political.

Can't wait till the election is over.
