Two people are dead following a violent morning that began at the Jefferson North Plant in Detroit.
Detroit police say a man was stabbed inside the factory around 8 a.m. Thursday. FOX 2's Amy Andrews talked to the victim's cousin, who also works at the factory. He told Andrews his cousin was stabbed in the neck and taken to St. John Hospital where he later died.
Police say the suspect fled the factory and was later found at Belle Isle where he committed suicide. The suspect also worked at the factory.
The Jefferson North plant employs just over 3,000 workers on two shifts. The 3-million-square-foot plant makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango full-size SUVs.
Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson says no other employees were injured. Workers on the first shift were sent home.
We'll continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
I've had hated some of the people that I've worked with in the past and present, however I never wanted to stab/kill anyone of them. So sad for both families.
