Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I read in one of the online mags that this will not be sold in North America.

Is this true?

Not true. It'll be all over North American roads, believe me.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I don't know why, but I am extremely excited for the debut of this Jeep. It's not something I would buy either. I guess I just want another "real" Jeep in the lineup.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

Oh dear god! Jeep is no longer Jeep! This little Fiat will destroy the Jeep name and reputation.
I was saying the same thing at first, but let's just wait and see it before we start hating it.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I probably wouldn't mind if they kept it as a fiat. If it's based on the fiat 500L with a 4WD system, then I don't know. I have driven a 500L and it is by far the worst thing I have ever driven in my life! And I have driven some pretty shocking cars in my youth!

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

Dannyboy, CALM DOWN. ;)

It might be BASED on the Fiat 500L/500X... but the architecture and 4x4 system was engineered in Auburn Hills BY JEEP ENGINEERS.

It's a Jeep. No worries. :)

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

Will it be able to lose weight just sitting in your driveway just like all other Fiats? Will it leave various deposits of fluid on your driveway just like good ole Fiats and Alfas? Will it be as reliable as good ole Spridget? In the bad ole days my friends with 124s, X1/9s, Spyders, and Alfettas had to call their friends with MG's for rides and when they didnt start they called me and I picked them all up in my 78 Rabbit GTI w/ Oettinger 16v conversion.

I'm sure they will be pretty reliable.

Really. Even the "BU" gets a Trailhawk version, but nothing for the Grand Cherokee? What gives???!!!!!!

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I wish there was a JGC Trailhawk, but it isn't necessary. An Overland or Limited with ORA-II is easily the second most capable vehicle in the Jeep lineup, and may even be better than a Wrangler in base trim. The Cherokee and BU need the Trailhawk version because they would not be able to be trail-rated otherwise.

I'd just like to remind EVERYONE that the year is

2014.

NOT 1980.

That is all.

I'm starting to think that the '13 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was just built to get people used to the name...

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I'm kind of excited to the B-UV as well. Not sure why, I think my biggest thing is wanting to see Jeep have something that will compete in all segments.

Bill_De as for the hating looks of the 14' GC before hand I agree, I was one of them. It was a drastic change and I have to tell you the exterior looks have grown on me, but I have always loved the 14' interior changes.

As for the Cherokee I know it's a great valued CUV and the only off-road capable one in it's class but I can't get passed the exterior to look at the interior LOL. It does look much nicer in person then in pictures, pictures make it look stubby lol.

I think Jeep has some exciting designs and tech in store for us, I really can't wait to see what Jeep and Chrysler have to show us in the near future.
As for the Trailhawk, I don't think it had time to sell to it's full potential. It hit lots in August/September of 2013 then bam in February we had the 14's. I really think Marlon's theory is head on. Get the nameplate out there and see how people respond. It's an awesome name for the Jeep model line up.

I wish nothing but the best for Jeep and Chrysler.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

The 124's and such eras weren't exactly shining stars of staying on the road between oil changes.

I was lucky enough to drive some of the 2 litre Fiats in the 90's on the autostrada around the Ivrea Aosta area and those things seemed to be quite decent.

Too bad Fiat was afraid to reenter the US with some of those pocket rockets.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

My vote for the name is the Jeep Laredo. With that said, it makes me wonder if Jeep plans on phasing out the Grand Cherokee Laredo or renaming the trim level to follow the other trims they now have. So the base trim becomes the Grand Cherokee Latitude.

As for the look of the new baby Jeep. Im thinking something like this. :D

Marlon,

Have you travelled overseas in the last 5 years to Europe, Africa, the Middle East? I have for work and have driven various rental Fiats and Alfas. Not my first choice buts its for work so its usually lowest cost. On the rare occasion when the job requires something reliable we dont rent Fiats, Alfas, Peugeots, Citroens, or Ladas. I had a Fiat Bravo back in Nov and the car must have had a hard life in 8 months as a rental. Front fenders were already showing rust and there was some rust on inside of rear fenders. I had to call the rental agency and get a replacement when the tranny left me with no gears. Alfas arent much better I have pulled out of my parking spot at the hotel and even 2012 Alfas leave oil deposits. I love the engines in Alfas especially the sound but I take a VW, Vauxhall, Ford, or Honda over it any day.
