Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I have to say, the looks is growing on me.

Would I buy one for my daily driver? Don't know - have to see one in person first, but I do like the overall look of the design.

Am I right in thinking that this is one of those designs, like the KL, that will wind up looking better in person and in certain colors than any picture could do it justice?

Milous and Marlon, thanks for the information and keep it coming (as you're able).

I fell in love with it the minute I saw the pre-production models covered in the body bag. I'm going to have a serious issue when my Liberty is paid off next year...

Screw it, I'm having a serious issue already!

2015 Jeep Jeepster Spy Photos – News – Car and Driver

is this what you are talking about ?

ewe !!

its a fiat with jeep name on it yuk !!!!
That is just a mule.

And no. The architecture is all Jeep. The platform is from Fiat, yes. The two are totally different terms. Take Grand Cherokee and Durango. Same platform, different architectures. That is why they have different codes. WK and WD. Since the platform is invisible and intangible, it's not something to worry about.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

It doesn't really grab me, but I don't hate the look. From the photos I think the front end is the weakest angle for the styling, but I have that feeling about a lot of cars. I think the public will accept the look. It's not nearly as bad as the new Cherokee and I've seen a couple of those on the road. That said, it's yet another compact built on a front-drive car platform, and that seems to be a crowded market today.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I think it looks badass! Jeep is doing a fantastic job of keeping the Jeep look. Even though right now it may not seem like the same timeless feel they're known for, I think it's new, refreshing, and will look good on the roads for a LONG time.

My wife has a 2012 Compass and we were watching a Cherokee commercial (a vehicle she DESPISED 2 months ago). She looks at me and says, "Will you buy me one of those??" We're a Jeep family, so I just love seeing any new twist they come up with! Also, I really want those Rubicon wheels on my WK!!!

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

There is a whole bunch of new pictures here :

2015 Jeep Renegade First Look - Automotive.com

Quote :
Renegade models with the Trailhawk package will have Jeep Active Drive Low, which will give the Renegade a 20:1 crawl ratio in its transmission differential for serious low-speed off-road duty. Trailhawk models will also have 8.7 inches of ground clearance, skid plates, tow hooks, hill descent control, and 2,000 pounds of towing capability when properly equipped with the Tigershark engine.

And from Jalopnik :
More 2015 Jeep Renegade details are coming out, and all the best boxes are ticked: 4WD only, a diesel version for the US, and an open-air variant are going to be in Jeep dealer's catalogues by the end of this year.

4 LOW !!
DIESEL !!!

It makes a good first impression visually. Wife likes what's out thus far. As always, proof's in the test drive and sustained reliability. Keep up the good work Jeep.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

The new 2015 Jeep Renegade will be sold exclusively with four-wheel drive in the US along with the option of a diesel engine.

Jeep confirmed to Automotive News that the Renegade will be offered with both gas and diesel powerplants, both of which will be assembled in the US. The motors will also be built in Italy and Brazil, suggesting that all three markets will get the option of both powerplants

i still cannot stand the look of the new cherokee... but this isnt bad.

Until the WK Grand Cherokees came along, Jeeps were not typically thought of as a ""pretty" vehicle. They've always had a "form follows function" type of beauty that the general population just doesn't get. And it looks like the Renegade is staying true to form. I sincerely hope it has some function to go along with it!

I think they're pretty cute. Jeep will sell lots of these to the younger urban crowd. I wonder how modifiable they are.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

How can it be called a Jeep when it will be made in Italy???? Think the GC has quality control problems just wait. By the time it reaches dealer showrooms all the fluids will need to be replenished since they will have all leaked out on the boat ride from Italy.

Times have changed, this isn't the 70's and 80's Fix It Again Tony era any more.
Some folks who have stayed current for the last couple decades might expect that the Jeep will increase in reliability from the Fiat/Maserati/Ferrari influence.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

Love all the Haters! Same things were said by the purest when Harley Davidson switched from the Shovel Head to the Evolution Engine. How has that been working out for them? I showed these pics to a few of the office girls and they all loved it and would trade their useless VW’s for one in a heartbeat.
These things will fly off the showrooms faster than Jeep can build them.
Remember the profits that are accumulated, hopefully will fund the next generation of the Wrangler and just maybe a return of the Jeep Pickup Truck.

Re: All-new 2015 Jeep BU

I like the idea of a compact with reasonable 4WD capability and a little more ground clearance than most of the current offerings. It's the kind of thing I might want for some family members who live in an area with poorly maintained roads and cold winters. That said, I wouldn't get one of these for myself. Something closer to a compact version of a Grand Cherokee might grab me, though.

I've spent enough time in the corporate world to know that you should never assume they'll do what makes sense to you. The accountants might decide that buyers really just want more front-drive crossovers.
