China... you had to ask? We are so imbalanced with China we should be building Renegades at two plants here and flooding their markets like they do to us.
Can't do that... The Renegade would cost $75k plus in China if it isn't produced there. We have an imbalance because they tax and tariff imported products so heavily. That's the reason Fiat/Chrysler is building factories in China, so they can break into that market...and they can't build there until they have a partnership set up with a Chinese automotive company who will "oversee" and reap profits from sales.
Yeah I know some of that... why do we let them flood our markets with cheap ass stuff? They put most U.S. solar companies out of business with cheap panels and we didn't tariff tax the hell of them because...? How do we survive as a country with the idiotic things we do.
Well, we allow them to destroy our companies so that our country can keep borrowing money from them to further our spending, which enables more of our population to become dependent on our government as they lose their jobs.
If the goal is a "utopian society" in which everybody co-exists and goes about their assigned jobs while a select few "enlightened" leaders make the decisions, you first have to destroy the hope of the people and drive them into 2 widely divided classes...then you will have the support of the masses to take all that which was earned by the wealthy. Progressives are patient, they move slowly, but carefully towards what they think will be best for themselves.

That's a very astute description of exactly what is happening...and most Americans are too stupid to realize it. Its like boiling a frog. Raise the temperature slow enough and he'll sit there and enjoy the warmth...until he's cooked.

The BU Renegade dimensions are within 1" of the 1997 - 2001 XJ Cherokee all around, with the Renegade being slightly wider. Similar looking smaller rear passenger door layout too. That's cool!
For me, there is much to like about the Renegade. I love the overall design and find the lines interesting. I like the whole "on the move, outdoor life style" they seem to be promoting. If they really release with classic Jeep colors like Solar Yellow (TJ) Anvil & Sahara Tan (JK) it should do really well in the market. Would make a great DD, tho my Prius C has that covered well ... The perfect anti-venom to my JKU with 37's.
In the end I want to see the biggest tires that will fit stock, or mild lift, tho I'm pretty sure it won't be lift friendly... If you can squeeze a set of BFG all terrains on their in a 31" flavor, it could make for a good mild desert rig.
1. Is the My Sky roof fully mechanical or is it electronic in any way? The reason I ask, is it is advertised as being removable (both panels come off) OR retractable (front panel slides back over the back panel.
2. Any idea where this thing will MSRP at? One of the biggest shockers for me when the KL came out was how a fully loaded Trailhawk sits at $40,000. That just seemed wrong to me, regardless of how much equipment was stuffed into it (Thats JKU Rubicon or WK2 Trailhawk/Limited territory.)
I would expect the base model to be roughly around $16,000 with a fully loaded Trailhawk around $32,000, but I could be way off.
I think it looks like those are two different options. You have the manually removable vinyl/fiberglass inserts that you can store in the back (for a fully open area), or the two separate electric sun roofs.
Nobody is talking about it...the Renegade isn't available for purchase yet and it doesn't have the excitement surrounding its availability as does something like the next model year of Wrangler
Configurator - Interesting. A TH with most options added is around 31 - 32k. As for excitement on this forum for the model you won't see much... this is dominated by JK and WK fans so other models are just side shows. The public at large is not engaged on these enthusiast sites but that doesn't mean they won't notice and buy Renegades like its Toyota, Honda, Nissan counterparts.

Looking to replace the wife's Sebring with either this or a Cherokee this year. Good to see it in person, a lot more room inside than I was expecting!
