Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yesterday (Sunday) I saw a Cherokee (Limited) on the Metropolitan Ring Road and it looks impressive on the road.

It certainly was very noticeable with its unique front end and bright DRLs.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I haven’t seen one yet. Every day I see several MY14 GC’s which is no surprise considering the amount sold in the last year.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Bought a Cherokee Limited almost 3 weeks ago.... Couldn't wait.... But just after a day and a half developed problems and went to the dealer for more than a week and today went back to the dealer for a second time!!! All in all the dealer now had it more than me.... And not extremely friendly when they start to realise that they might sold me a lemon... Jeep Australia even more unfriendly, with the service call girl with I don't give a shit attitude.. What a disappointment.... Should have stayed with Toyota....

Poker,

What's the build date on your Limited, and what exactly were the problems ?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

2014 build
Message with transition service, "R" & "D" flashing, parking assist disengaged (flashing), traction control off. Restart the car a few times, allows to engage into gears with a big clunk in the transmission allows me to drive. A engine warning light stays on for about 12 hours and then the car behaves normal!?

Oh well at least you've got the dealer to go back to....just make sure you ask for a loan car if they're going to have it for any period of time.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Today I managed to ride next to, and follow, a KL Cherokee on the Eastern Freeway for about 5kms. It was the Longitude version.

I observed him overtake a new Toyota RAV4 and a Honda CR-V. I was pleased to see that the Cherokee had that "presence" about it on the road compared to the other two. The Cherokee was much longer and wider, but the roof line is lower. The Jeep's lines look much cleaner and sleeker too.

I've checked out the dimensions when I've compared various medium SUVs on the internet but it was good to see those cars lined up next to one another in the flesh. The more I see the Cherokee the happier I get

I've had 6 Hondas, two of them CR-Vs and there's no denying the Honda's reliability. So moving to the Jeep in the medium SUV segment is a big deal for us. The current CR-V (Luxury) simply does not compare to the Cherokee as far as features and standard equipment are concerned, and it's roughly the same price. Hopefully my research will pay off.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Marty - are you stalking KL's?

I've never ever seen one on the road. I've never even test-driven one. Truth be told, I've only sat in one and that was a Sport because the Limited wasn't available a few months ago.

No, there is no denying Honda's reliability. I have a close friend who is a Honda fanatic. From old Preludes to the S2000 (which he still has) and added to that lot his new CR-Z (odd looking thing) - he has them all.

Buy a Honda he keeps saying. Buy a Jeep I keep telling him. Under pressure however he will admit that the Wrangler he purchased for his ex-wife is still the best vehicle ever. Secretly, he loves that Wrangler. Waxes lyrical about it.

We'll be fine with the new KL's I'm sure. Just need to get the jolly things.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Oh and also Marty - did you read about Toy's test drive of the CRD on the German Autobahn the other day? (on the KL dedicated other forum). He was impressed.

I can't help it. When you see one on the road it certainly stands out.

I test drove the Cherokee 3.2 V6. Solid, smooooooth, quiet and powerful compared to a lot of the other brands. But more importantly the cockpit just "felt" more upmarket compared to the others. Although I do love Hondas, the current CR-V Luxury just didn't feel luxurious at all, not compared to the Cherokee (Limited).

You must be sooooo happy knowing that your Cherokee is in production now. I've always said that I'm more than happy to wait, but the waiting is, well, you know, ...it sucks And this isn't even going to be my car
