I haven't read that one but I have read many other reviews. I'm sure the CRD is a cracker

I can imagine that the KL would've been quite at home at higher speeds. It certainly is a solid and sure footed vehicle albeit a little heavier than the competitors, but maybe that's a good thing.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

He took it to 160km/h with no issue. Didn't like the lane-departure assist bizzo though. You can turn it off however, but he did comment that if you indicate each time you want to cross the line (ie: change lanes) then it is happy with that and will not pull you back into the current lane.

That sounds normal operation to me though but perhaps they don't indicate every lane-change time in Europe (or even here maybe), upon that would get a bit annoying I suppose but it's nothing to flip the indicator on so really is a non-issue.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yep, I agree; sounds like normal "Lane Departure Warning" operation to me too.

I'm glad that when activated that it actually does as required. So the system works

The Lane Departure System might help train some drivers to indicate more often instead of making those behind them try to second-guess what their next move is.

I don't understand why this safety feature wasn't put into GC. Maybe in next upgrade? And low speed emergency auto brake? Read that IGA lowers insurance premium by 15% for auto brake.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I too have only seen one active Cherokee - it was a Limited on the Eastern Freeway a couple of weeks ago inbound - silver - and think it had the ACC on as a car pulled into it's lane and the brake lights lit (well, that's my thought anyway).

Waiting to see if the local dealer's new Mango Tango Trailhawk is available for a test only because it has the Tech and Convenience packs, be nice to know how they ride before I get to ours

Marty and Paul Julian - a bit of light reading for you whilst we wait.

However, I needed a few wines to help me understand - at least, I think I part way comprehend (but that could be the wine)

It might possibly make perfect sense first read, to you guys though.

Hi ya Paul, I test drove the both the Limited and Longitude 3.2 petrol and I don't think that you'll be disappointed.

I found the KL comfortable, solid, powerful, it handled very well and had a nice "feel" to it; almost Grand Cherokee like, albeit on a smaller scale, if that makes sense. It's a heavy car; heavier than the others in the medium SUV segment, but I liked that. The thick steering wheel felt great too.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

The Bayford Jeep sales-guy contacted me today and he's trying to get an existing order changed to try to speed up the delivery time for me.

I don't think that he'll be successful but I was pleased to see that he was being pro-active about trying to get the car to us sooner rather than later. Read as, I'm glad that he hasn't just "dumped" us after we ordered and signed.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

So regarding the KL's departure from Jeep heritage (or so the nay-sayers would have you believe with regards to its looks)....

Ummm... something looks a little familiar (albeit with a 21st century refinement).

ETA: That's a 1967 Jeep Wagoneer in case you didn't already know.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yes I saw a Review on YouTube where they commented on Jeep retaining some of the Jeep Heritage with regards to the front end (grill).

Also just noticed the "1941" on the steering wheel and the "Jeep" on the bottom of the (interior) windscreen.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Marty, there is a review in the latest 4x4 mag that I picked up at the newsagent today pitching the Cherokee T/Hawk against the FJ Cruiser.

The Cruiser came out on top because of its greater off-road attributes but the KL came out on top bitumen wise, cabin refinement etc.

I think a fair review overall although reading through each of the sections prior to the summation, you were thinking all along that the T/H was going to come out on top.

To me it came out to 50/50 and all depended on what you wanted the vehicle for ultimately.
