Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yep, that's the Tint Professor (Rooks Rd) that I've used. I knew Rick well
"If" you do have a problem with their tint, they'll replace it free of charge, but as mentioned, I've never had a problem.

Confirmed Privacy Glass on rear window. I saw it when I ordered our Limited.

Here's some photos of the Limited with rear window Factory provided Privacy Glass.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

A question from the States: Are those lamps set in the lower rear fascia fog lamps or merely reflectors as they are over here. If they are, it would have saved me some effort by fitting those instead of fiddling around fitting diodes and a relay to the normal lights for use when towing behind our RV.

G'Day Martin, I believe that the lower set of rear lights are Fog Lights. It appears that inner half of the light fascia is reflective however the outer half is the actual Fog Light.

The photo below is from an Australian Car Review site.

Flattop here has just picked up his Cherokee so he could probably confirm.

I can visit the Dealership and confirm with photos tomorrow if that helps.

Thanks, Marty and G'day to you too. I was only asking about the lights out of interest as I've already gone down the other route using diodes. I'm an ex-pat Brit and I know that rear fog lights are mandatory in my old country. Also, I discovered yesterday that there's an unused fuse bay under our Limited's hood that's labeled for RFL's.

Maybe anyone reading this who is working out options for wiring up toad lights may look into somehow getting these lamps and taking it from there.

Thanks again for your reply.

Sorry, a bit late to the party.
Are they foglights? I'm not sure by definition but I can say they are switched separately from the headlight switch.
So the headlight switch is a multi position ring circular unit. as you turn the dial you select various headlight settings. The center of the ring is cut into two halves, upper and lower. Upper turns on the front foglights, the lower half turns on something on the rear which I would assume are the lights in the aforementioned post. Something lights up as if the car is in reverse you can see the change in luminance from the rear camera display.

Side note and possibly OT
I was always under the impression fog lights needed to be yellow to cut through the reflectance of humid air, this seems no longer to be the trend, I remember having yellow Hella lamps on my old HZ Holden for fog. Th lamps on front of the Jeep are clear and the rear look Red. However I guess if they are low enough to the ground then the reflectance isn't high.

Hi there, Flattop. Thanks for your note and confirmation that you do indeed have "rear fog lights". I should explain that, in the UK at least, they are also known as "high intensity rear lights" which are required to be switched on during periods of low visibility such as fog or heavy rain. They are therefore for the benefit of following drivers, not yourself for backing up. I do recall though, in the UK, there was many a time when forgetful drivers left those lights on during clear nighttime visibility and blinded those following them.

Interesting to read about your dash switch. Ours does not have the divided centre - the whole switch is pressed in to turn on the front fogs.

One final question - are those lamps you have LED or incandescent? The reason I ask is that anyone contemplating installing these lamps for toad wiring purposes would need to fit dual filament bulbs ( tail and turn/brake lights). An LED unit would probably not allow that.

Thanks again.

Hi Martin, all Aussie model Cherokees get rear Fog Lights, as described in your post above. They also have LED Daytime Running Lights and LED Tail Lights.

The "Sport" & "Longitude" models get Halogen Projector headlamps and the upper spec "Limited" and "Trailhawk" models get Bi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlamps.

That's much the same as over here ( where your Longitude is called Latitude). The main difference is the Trailhawk is not offered with HIDs and our Limited has them but only by specifying the Luxury Group package. What I was really interested in finding out, though, was whether your "rear fog lights" are LED or otherwise.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hello All,

Just over a week ago I picked up my granite crystal Cherokee Trailhawk from Suttons Waitara (highly highly recommended dealer) - got it with all the options. So far I am blown away as to how good this vehicle is - can't wait to do some off road stuff - thinking about doing the Barrington Trail when it opens in October. Cheers

Matt
