Hi Paul,

I'm in Shell Cove (a southern suburb of Wollongong, NSW). It sounds like you have good taste in cars.

Thanks for the information; I'll get onto my dealer shortly. Could you post the link to track the ship?

I'm glad to hear that you ordered it in late July and it's arriving early September; that's only about 6 weeks, not the 4 months that I was expecting!

Cheers,
Julian

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

It was great being almost the only Cherokee on the road for a while, the car was a head turner with a lot of nods and comments.
I went to Ikea the other day and there was another in the carpark near me, I'm seeing more around, looks like stocks are loosening up and filtering through.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yes I've seen more around the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne; mainly Trailhawks. Or maybe it's the same car

The Deep Cherry Red certainly is a popular colour.

Saw one the other day approaching sunset and boy are those DRLs really bright in low light. Like it's Big Brother, the Grand Cherokee, those DRLs stand out in bright light too. Makes it very noticeable on the road.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Considering that the official launch date for the 2015 models is 1 Sep 14, I wonder if any of our Dealers have the 2015 variants or the Diesels in their lots yet?

I noticed that the "test" (diesel) car from Car Advice had VIC plates on it, or could that just be a "generic" Jeep Cherokee photo that they use?

That's just a stock image from June (not a diesel). Our dealer would let me know if a CRD had arrived in their showroom I'm 100% certain.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

What's up with JA only offering the diesel in a Limited - why on earth not in the Trailhawk or across the range. It must happen in the future I would think.

And can you fit the Trailhawk type recovery hooks to the front of the Limited?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hmm, I love diesel, my last car (2.2l diesel 145kw) was quite economical considering the size and weight. That said, I ran the numbers on the Cherokee and added $5k for the diesel plus a conservative guestimation on extra servicing costs and them factored in the cheaper running costs and it's really line ball. You would need to run the car for 3-4 years to break even over the petrol (depending on klms, higher the klms faster you break even) unless you specifically want diesel for towing or offroad it's a bit exy and not available on the offroad TH model.
It's also only 125kw so yes there is some grunt but not blistering power.

Still getting around 11.8-12l/100 on the 3.2L V6. It's trending downward and I expect it will level out at 11 in the end.
Mind you there is ample power and it's very tempting to give it a squirt now and then.
One thing, it does lag down low occasionally when the boot is planted, I'm not sure if it's the 17"rims on the TH not coupled well with the 9 speed or just that it needs some tweaking. It is a "learning" gearbox so I'm trying to teach it
I want it to cruise most of the time and be responsive when I give it a kick.

Perhaps with this car you should run it in gently for a few thou then do a gearbox reset and teach it how to be driven?????

P.S anyone got any link to the tech update bulletins or service packs for the car?
I may take it in over summer and get it updated, I don't want to wait for the 12K service as that's 6 months away for me.

If we stuck with ordering a car not already on their stock list, it would have been that timeline too - they told us that it had all we wanted (well the luxury was something we didn't intend for but hey, why not !)...

The MY15 cars I don't think will filter through to us until next year - even though they're updating in the US, I feel the export cars would be on a different release schedule, as it's only 3 months old here in Oz.

Interesting in that Drive.com.au article about the mention of the Jeep competition - nobody seems to know what happened in the aftermath - were there winners ?
