Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

over 6000klms now had a 400k round trip for the long weekend, mostly highway and the economy was good, sitting between 6-7l/10klms for most of the way and shot up when I got stuck in traffic jams to and from work for the rest of the week, my total average for the life of the car =6000klms is about 10.3 so it has dropped dramatically after the long weekend.

I'm using adaptive cruise a lot and starting to wonder about the wear and tear on the brakes as it tends to accelerate and brake in heavy traffic rather than accelerate and coast then brake as a normal driver would do, obviously in peak there is a lot of accelerating and braking going on but adaptive cruise can only see the car in front so tends to accelerate hard when the car in front moves and brake hard when it slows and accelerate hard when it takes off again - it makes for a bit of a jerky ride but is easier on the pedal foot than driving yourself...

Hi SJandL. Nah, I never did. When we ordered I figured that we'd get the KL sometime in Jan or Feb '15, and anything earlier would be a bonus. I work weeks and sometimes months away from home so a second car isn't really needed at home at the moment.

Actually;..... looking at "others" that have ordered around the same date as us, I reckon that our KL could be on the 6 Dec 14 ship in to Melbourne, but that's just a guess.

If I don't hear anything from the Dealer by the end of this month I'll ask for the VON then and see where the car is from Milous.

FYI - I did notice today on "Carsales" that there are quite a few new (MY15) 2.4 Diesel Limiteds for sale in Melbourne now :-) No MY15 3.2L Petrols though. Maybe they're on the December boat.

PS: Congrats on selling your "old" Jeep. I'm sure that those Grey Nomads are very happy :-) I'm looking forward to reading your report on your new (Jeep) baby :-)

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I think my Trailhawk missed the boat? There's nothing in MOTS about it having been loaded, and it doesn't show up when I enter my VIN in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking site. Bugger!

That means it'll probably be on the Endurance, which arrives in Port Kembla on the 21st December, so I'm unlikely to have it until the new year.

Double Bugger... I kept checking during the day Julian hoping to see some movement but no.

Does Prix Car and dealerships work between Christmas and New Year I wonder? A slim chance of delivery in that period perhaps?

Ours has arrived at the dealership. I got them to check the Uconnect version for me. It is 14.29.9.

Picking up on Wednesday morning.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hey guys,

If any of you guys are interested in getting the vinyl decal aftermarket, I have put these on a few of the Cherokee's in the last few weeks in sydney. But I can ship decal Oz wide. Colours are unlimited but I mainly do Matt Black due too customer wanting to make it look like the TrailHawk.

Its on Air Free and it has the sprayers already cut out, One thing I do is I wrap the back edge under the bonnet, The OEM one finishes before the edge of bonnet IMHO makes the decal unfinished.

Just PM me for pricing.

Kilad - I think that looks great on Mango Tango and White and also I think it would look pretty good on Anvil as well. True Blue (our colour) not so sure.

I wish I had been brave enough to go with Mango Tango though. It looks amazing.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I need help guys n girls

Drove the Cherokee and GC again on the weekend, wife says GC drives better than the KL, Cherokee feels heavy to drive by comparison, but the GC is to big for her.

Main things she doesn't like about the KL it the pedals, she has driven two now and both times said the same thing, doesn't like the brake pedal. When I drive it, it appears the brake pedal is too high and has little travel, given it a very wooden feel and I have to consciously lift my leg and hold it up to use it (seat jacked up high and moved back to a comfortable position in relation to accelerator pedal), i'm 6' and my wife is 5'4", neither of us had a problem with the GC.

Anyone else noticed this?

Fairly sure i've lost the GC battle, now i'm losing the Cherokee battle to a CRV

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Finally got my vin and von number from my dealer Yeah! Thanks To Milous for the info, found out that I'm actually getting the 2015 jeep Cherokee limited instead of the 2014 model when ordered on the 22 of August.

My car is on the Tarago and should be in port Melbourne on the 24th of Nov. Is any other members car on the same boat. Below is the schedule from the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking site:

AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND 16/11/2014

BRISBANEAUSTRALIA 20/11/2014

PORT KEMBLA AUSTRALIA 22/11/2014

MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA 24/11/2014

FREMANTLE AUSTRALIA 30/11/2014

Soon I'll be able to drive it instead of reading about it.

See, in regards to the GC vs the KL, I would say they both drive great - just different. I like the drive in the Grand and I liked the test drive that I had in the KL. They're not supposed to be the same - they're different and I most certainly didn't find the KL 'heavy' to drive.

I also do not find the Grand too big in any way shape or form. It is a breeze to park. But we are all different and if she says the Grand is too big, then I suppose it's too big for her.

I can't say I've noticed a problem with the pedals on the KL. It is something I would have noticed if it had been an issue. It felt absolutely fine to me.

It really does sound like she has her mind set on the CRV though.

What do you intend to do with the vehicle? Have you seen this?

AWD Honda CR-V acts like a FWD car during low grip test

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Thank you for your reply SJ

The Cherokee is without doubt, a superior drive to the CRV, less noisy, smoother more refined engine and more compliant ride etc

She actually did very well driving the GC, practiced parking it in a shopping centre and nailed it first time, beauty of the GC is you can see its boundaries, the CRV believe it or not its harder to judge given its dramatic nose drop off and oddly shaped rear, to the point that we will probably get front park sensors!

Her intention was to have a SUV looking car with AWD, we go camping in my FG Falcon packed until it's bootlid is bulging and i'd like to do light offroading, CRV's boot space is about 25 litres more than the Falcon so not much more (KL is smaller again) but like most, the vast majority of the driving will be around suburbia and she will be driving it.

KL is a good middle ground but darn, this brake pedal issue

Yes, saw that CRV fail test, pretty darn poor and they need to fix that. But in reality, the only use for AWD in a CRV is snowy/slippery conditions, she's no offroader.
