Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Ah well, bottom-line is though, she has to be happy with whatever vehicle she has to drive so if that's the Honda then so be it.

Not a bad review of the KL this evening though in Fairfax. A bit surprising really - they aren't known for their love of Jeeps.

Anyone else noticed this?
I can confirm this, the brake pedal is annoyingly high.
THe brake pedal in the GC is not as high.

I had a GC Overland 5.7 as a loan car for two days, as my KL Diesel was again in the workshop with a failed drive/alternator belt (most probably dealers fault).
The GC drives so much smoother and is a tad fatter on the road (don't know how to describe it any better).

The size of the car was the reason I opted for the KL, as I don't need such a big car with big engines anymore.

One thing though is the collision warning thingy, which drove me nuts. The car braked three times very hard, while cruising in slow moving traffic and once without any reason in a 60 zone. It's a very scary experience, as it flashes BRAKE in the dashborad, a loud chime is going off and the car brakes. It also beeps very often when a car is next to you in the next lane.

I want to be in control and not the car, very happy that I don't have this feature on the KL.

Now I have to get used to the "tractor" again, but I like the fuel consumption compared to the V8
But the Hemi is sweeeet.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Is it possible to get our "own" sub category?

We could split the thread into categories like Aussie Delivery, Technical and whatever else people find useful.

Our Uconnect is different, we have a Diesel and the trim levels come with different features included.

Just an idea, as it makes it easier for Aussie newbies to follow, instead of reading all 39 pages.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

With regards to the forward collision system on the GC, it sounds like the one that you were driving had its settings set to 'Far' rather than 'Near'. The 'Near' option is the best choice for more accurate readings from the sensors. We don't have this issue on our Grand.

Good idea. I've sent a request through to Admin Marcimark.

Thanks for the confirmation re the brakes marcimark.

That Hemi is magic, the first WK GC I drove was an SRT, the exhaust note even stock is music to my ears, far better than my FG XR8's note! the diesel is pretty damn impressive too but with better fuel economy.

Definitely need a few more categories on the forum for us Aussies

Sorry - Yes, picked it up this morning. Am liking it a lot so far. Haven't quite made my mind up about the Stop/Start business yet, but maybe that's because I'm just not used to it.

And, also weirdly I actually prefer the foot-brake on the Grand than the electric one on the KL but that's just me and very minor.

Was not expecting the extra smooth ride on some of these roads around where we are. Am very impressed with the suspension. It just soaks it all up.

So far all good. Still mucking around with things but overall, I'm loving it.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Very very nice

I prefer the 2015 tailpipes to the round 2014.

Your car port could be an add for Jeep - it looks like it could be in the middle of Jeep Country!

Congrats on the new car.

The tail pipes look great and I like the colour.
The Stop/Start automatic can be very annoying, and unfortuantely can't be permanently disabled.

I got my dealer to check an upgrade to 14.29.9 with my VIN and it is not available.
Probably only for MY15.

I would like to know what is different between MY 14 and 15 in regards to Uconnect and technology.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Agree completely Matt with the tailpipes. I looked at both today from behind and thought 'those WK2 pipes look crap compared to the KL'

Oh well, can't have it all. Still in love with WK2 despite its pipes though.

Marcimark - with regards to comparing uconnect versions. Not sure how we do that other than me taking screen shots of all uconnect options and then you compare with what you have. Snuke did that with the WK2 a long while ago and that worked well as far as what people were seeing on their screens.

I'll do that tomorrow - (correction: I'll try and do that tomorrow - I have neglected our business today for obvious reasons, so need to sort that side of things out tomorrow). I will attempt to get all screen shots by tomorrow evening though and then we can compare.

Cool car though. Am getting a lot of comments already about how good it looks in the flesh. It may not be as divisive in looks as it is made out to be.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Oh and just adding - there is no DAB+ on the '15 KL. There is on the '15 WK2. I thought the head units were the same but they appear not to be. I'm a bit disappointed in that. It seemed like an obvious inclusion for the '15 KL.
