Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I'm glad you like a long road trip Marty because I hate them. That's why aircraft were invented. So that means you're coming up to New South.

Umm... cheeky you are.

Here's hoping that Bayford Jeep can deliver with the after sales service. So far, so good
I went to Berwick and Mentone Chrysler jeep first, they were closest to home just to get a feeling on price. Got it from Peninsula Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Mornington 30 K's from home, my friend is the head mechanic their and got the car at retail.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Thanks for the support guys!

I'm not sure that I trust MOTS. When the Tamerlane left Curtis Bay, a couple of days ago, I entered my VIN on the WW site, and got a hit that it's on the Tamerlane?

That's good news two dogs. There are two sites you can track your boat,

Thanks, I'm already watching it on MarineTraffic! I've got a satellite subscription for a month, so that I can follow it when it's offshore.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I'm so keen that I had a program that checked the MOTS page every hour and emailed me when my car's status changed.

It finally updated with the ship load a couple of days ago, at midday today.

I'm not sure what retail means, but at Bayford I negotiated:

2015 KL Cherokee Limited
+ Technology Group
+ Electronics Group
+ Panoramic Sunroof
+ Tow Bar (Hitch & Ball)
+ Front Window Tint
+ Black Slimline Number Plates
+ Extended Warranty
$51,000 drive away.

Comparing other KLs on sale on CarSales, I'm very happy with that price.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Marty you got a very good deal. The only difference between yours and mine is that I have the Luxury group, Genuine tow package minus the front tint and extended warranty for $53100 drive away.

Is your tow bar Genuine if so even better.

I reckon you got a better deal than I.

Experience with KL Diesel

Hi group,

it's interesting to read about all the people looking at various vessels, just to see when their Jeep is coming.

I thought I spice this up a little and give you my experience with a KL Limited Diesel.

So far dne 4,500 km and had four visits to the dealership.

First one was a lose centre console, which was fixed in a few minutes.

Second visit was the 1,000 km service, pluse the replacement of the in- dash compartment (rattling noise) and the replacement of the front left door trim (window tinter daaged it).

Third visit was unpleasant, as the alternator belt flicked off and wrapped around various items in the engine bay.
I was able to drive the car to the dealer, thanks to electric power steering.

Fourth visit was yet another snapped alternator belt, but only because dealer forgot to tighten the air condition compressor, so that the belt rubbed and produced a lot of smoke due to burning rubber.

The spare parts holding is an issue, as the first belt came from WA (only in the country) and the second belt and the bracket from a car in the yard.

The car needs some major attention in regards to cabin noises at the 10,000 service. Very annoying rattles from dashboard, both front doors and the B-Pillars (seatbelt areas).

The Navigation system is okay, but the system can't pronounce street names, which a $99 system can!

The Stop Start Automatic is nerving, when the traffic light changes to gree shortly after a stop or the traffic flows again. It just takes the car a while to get going again. I switch it usually off, as there is no factory option to do so.

The air con has no option to run on Auto but without engaging the A/C, which I personally dislike.

Fuel consumption on mixed freeway/highway and city driving is 7.4 litres.
I hope this will go down, as it is a tad high. I should easily achieve under 7 litres, especially when using the freeway a lot.

I also discovered something intresting with the roof, as it seems it is not welded properly. Do yourself a favour and touch the roof when washing the car (or when you feel like it). It is possible to get the "sheet metal" to hit a cross bar. I never experienced something like this with any other car.

The lag when accelerating is also nerving and caused by the drive-by-wire throttle. It doesn't happen when drving in sport program.

Overall not a bad car, but the quality is not of a $50k car in my opinion.

Rant over

I'm unsure what you mean by this. I have over the last 3 days washed the vehicle each day (Me vs the Sydney basin storms) and I have climbed up and touched the roof etc whilst cleaning. I don't know what you mean by this comment.

I use Stop/Start everyday in a variety of situations from stopping at our first gate to open prior to getting to the road, to stopping at an intersection, to the school 'kiss and drop' crawling/stop zone. Your comment that 'it takes a while' is not my experience. It is within a second (or just below) that it starts again.

With regards to the first gate, I have to be quick with it, otherwise it objects to me opening the door to get out to open the gate, (bells and whistles on the evic) but I have it sorted. If I'm quick enough, it stops but immediately restarts again after I've put it into park and clicked the electric park button on.

Over the last few days especially due to our temps, I have taken note of the EVIC display that tells me that Stop/Start will not be activated due to the HVAC system cooling the vehicle (because of the outside temps eg: 37 degrees today).

Once the HVAC (within a few minutes) sorts itself, then Stop/Start is ready to go.

I have no issues with the Air Con. Actually better than the Grand if I'm honest.

Also, no rattles in the cabin at all and I drive on country roads that have seen better days including our own driveway. If anything was going to shake the cabin down, our driveway would.

Transmission is smooth, VR enunciates well, everyone that I've taken as a passenger insists that the seats are more comfortable than the Grand (I disagree but each to their own) and overall, it is an excellent vehicle.

I do have one complaint and that is the size of the tank. It's a 62 litre tank I think and the Grand is a 93 litre tank. Not liking that I have to visit the station more now but a small issue.

I'm loving it.

Hi joezep, I didn't mean to make this a pricing competition, but I was interested by your "Retail" comment, so I was intrigued as to what you paid.

In all honesty, to get that price for our KL Cherokee was probably due to the killer trade-in that we provided (late model BMW X1, with low Kms, Sat Nav, Sunroof and no dents or scratches).

Anyhow joezep, not long now. Please let us know how those Ventilated Seats work for you; you'll probably be using them quite a bit this summer
