Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

The sales manager told me I got it at retail price, he probably meant employee's discount. He actually showed me the computer screen that he wasn't making much of a profit. No competition meant as long as we are both happy.

Don't worry I'll be giving my bottom a good workout . getting close now.

I'm loving it.
I'm glad to hear that you love your KL and wish you a smooth ride all the time.

I don't have the same experience and the cabin rattles are very noticable. From both front doors, dashboard, trunk area and both B-Pillars.
The built quality is not like a good Japanese vehicle in my opinion.
The MY 15 might be better than the MY14!

When you tap the roof, the whole "sheet" actually moves and hits some cross bar, which then makes a noise like a ball or something drops on the roof.

The aircon is weird, as it doesn't blow cold air towards me, when it is hot outside and it needs to cool the cabin and myself. I have to manually regulate to actually get cool. Again, something that my previous Japanese car did much better.
I also don't understand, why the A/C is automatically on, when inside and outside temperature are similar. Again, I turn the A/C manually off. Saves fuel

I don't know how much you drive, but I'm in sales in the car is basically my office. So, I'm in and out of the car a lot and do some short trips. The stop/start is a pain, as it it takes a bit for the motor to shut down and then it needs to re-start, mostly only a few seconds later. I have no issues with the speed of the re-start as such, but I plainly don't like this feature.
I also beleive it wears the battery, starter motor and the engine more than without this feature. Every time the engine starts, it runs a little without oil getting pumped. That must wear an engine faster. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Over the last few months I've done a lot of research into Automotive Stop-Start systems. It appears that Stop-Start systems in cars are here to stay. A few years ago people were very sceptical and complained when Electric Windows in cars were first introduced, and now, well..........

Anyhow, I've selected an article (link below) that explains the Stop-Start system. These two quotes are from the same article.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Here's another Link to an informative article regarding the Stop-Start System.

One thing that interested me in this article was the comparison to the writer's experience to mine.

Before deciding upon the Jeep Cherokee Limited I test drove a Volvo XC60 with the Stop-Start System; the first car that I had ever driven with this feature. Yes it was weird and noticeable at first, but after 10 minutes I was oblivious to it.

The only reason why I didn't go with the Volvo XC60 was the price. It's a beautiful car but you get a lot of bang for your buck with the Cherokee Limited :-)

More cars getting stop-start despite driver resistance

I've been driving a car with stop/start for nearly 3 years and it really hasn't been a issue. You soon get used to it and you wonder how much fuel would be saved and pollution reduced in cities if all cars had it.

Yes, Volvos are nice - I had a XC70 Diesel for 4 years and it was super comfortable. No local dealer and if anyone thinks Jeep resale is bad, you haven't had a Volvo ! Luckily I had free servicing too as dealer charges were eyewatering...

I do have one complaint and that is the size of the tank. It's a 62 litre tank I think and the Grand is a 93 litre tank. Not liking that I have to visit the station more now but a small issue.

I'm loving it.
Filling up weekly is a bore, I used to go fortnightly with the diesel Kia (about 75litres) although at least now I can pay $1.25 a litre instead of $1.50 so there are benefits, economy is now around 11/100 so it's heading in the right direction.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Good to hear that it's dropping sFlattop.

I'm currently sitting mid-high 6's. I'm not sure if it will go any lower than that, given my daily driving conditions. A few freeway runs will probably take it lower but they won't be happening in the next few weeks.

I'm happy though with the numbers.

Marty - Thanks for posting those links regards the Stop/Start. I never turn it off now. It is a great feature.

Experienced for the first time yesterday, rear back-up sensors with stop. A short freak-out caused by the 'BRAKE' indicator thrown up on the EVIC coupled with bells and whistles and the vehicle actively braking whilst in reverse.

The MY14 Grand only has this feature in forward collision mode, and even though I had read about the reverse feature on the KL, it still came as a shock when it happened.

Nice to know it works though.

You guys still waiting to take delivery in the next few weeks or so are going to love this vehicle. It's my choice of daily drive now (even though I still love the sheer power and size of the WK2)

That is GREAT news joezep. Good on you mate I just got word today that we can pick up our KL this week too

The only thing is that I'm still interstate and I won't be home for another 2 weeks, so the Hugs & Kisses is going to collect it...... But I wanted to collect the KL (Waa Waaa Waaaa )

So sad, too bad I suppose. It's her car anyway,.... I guess she'll be picking me up from the airport in the new KL, which will be nice

AND SJ&L, you'll LOVE this one. She has already organised doing a Road Trip in the KL on Boxing Day to visit her long-time friend in NSW for a few days without me I have to stay home to babysit The Kid, the dog and 2 cats. As my 11 year old daughter (The Kid) says, "Girls rule, boys drool!"

No I'm very happy for her Let's hope the KL lives up to all expectations; I'm sure it will.

And how are you going Julian (Two Dogs)? Your KL must be arriving soon too, right?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I see on CarSales that there are a couple of 3.2 petrol KL MY15s for sale from QLD and NSW. So the MY15s are starting to filter through now.

I guess that you can expect 3.2 petrol MY15s for sale in VIC within the next couple weeks. Up until now I've only seen the Diesel MY15 versions.

What is disturbing though, is seeing Dealers that advertise MY15 Cherokees that are clearly not MY15 vehicles.

I wonder how many customers have been sucked into this deceptive ploy. Sad really

Does anyone remember William H Macey as the New Car Salesman in the movie "Fargo"; when he sold that new car to that couple with Rust & Paint protection? Yes, a very poignant and "oh so typical" car buying situation.

Buyer beware! I reckon that JeepGarage has saved more than a few of us
