Well SJandL I spoke with Mrs Marty today and she thinks that there are too many buttons.

The Salesman said, "well you ordered all the options", so it took nearly 2 hours to go through the handover. If it was me it would've been 30 minutes as I already know this stuff, ....thanks to JeepGarage ;-)

Anyhow shes saying that she likes the BMW Audio Controls better, but realizes that she'll get used to the JEEP audio setup.

Overall shes LOVING IT! The Voice Recognition and Hands Free (Phone) Voice Control works very well (I tested it with her today :-) )

No dramas with Fit & Finish, no dramas with 9 Speed Transmission, the car drives really well (solid and powerful), she loves all the "safety" prompts such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Departure etc....

Looks like a Brilliant Vehicle to date I cant wait to see it on Saturday

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Am I mad ?

The only part of the Limited I am not really sold on are the wheels - the polished alloys on a white car don't excite me (just my 2c).

I would prefer a silver painted wheel - but I see these are available in the right stud, size and spacing (I know the details are a bit unusual)... White car with black or grey wheels will be a bit different ?

Enkei M52 Wheel 18x8 5x110 +40mm

Anyone know what happens with the TPMS sensors ?

Oh, this is what they look like on a Cherokee, albeit in Black with no chrome...

Buttons - yes, a lot of them.

I thought you were being collected from the airport today. I had that wrong - it's tomorrow then. (Saturday).

VR control is excellent in the vehicle. It is better than our MY14 GC so clearly they have tightened things up in that area. Can you test VR for Nav when you have a chance as well? I'm getting roughly a 90% hit rate now on addresses so far. I would be interested in what you get down in VIC.

Softsand: No - you're not mad. We love the wheels, but we have True Blue so a completely different look. I can understand what you mean about them being paired with White though.

I'd live with it for a few weeks and see how you feel about it after that.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hello all

Had my dealer service yesterday and asked for the navigation update so that it would pronounce street names with some semblance of accuracy (I know Aberglasslyn may be a bit of a mouthful but to pronounce it Baggers Lane? - well when you look at it maybe after all!) - picked it up and there appears to be no difference - anyone had any experience in this area? Thanks

Matt

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I have no covered over 7,000 km with the Diesel and I still have mixed feelings about the car.

The engine is very noisy, especially compared to a Skoda Superb Diesel I was driving in Sydney earlier this week.

The cabin built quality is below average, as I get more rattles and squeaks from various areas, compared to when I got the car.
The panel in the foot area, next to the steering column, comes lose all the time and won't stay in place.
The rearview mirror vibrates on the freeway and I have no clear vision, as the engine only revs at around 1,500 and the car vibrates quite a bit.

The fuel consumption is still high and I don't manage to get under 7.3 litres with mixed driving. Got it to 6.1 litres from Ballarat to Melbourne with cruise control set and virtually no traffic. This should be lower than that.

The Stop/Start sytem works as it should, but still drives me nuts and I don't like it at all.

The Uconnect is a joke!
It takes too long to connect all devices and for the navi system to be ready. The guidance is very often wrong and it takes the longest route.
When I use a route that is quicker, it tries U-turns/turns for a long time.
The voice quality of street names can be very funny, but every $99 gps system is well ahead of this system, which cost more than 20 times as much.

Sorry Fiat/Chrysler, but a large screen and a fast bluetooth pairing function don't make a good system.
Enable the voice system for the GPS system while driving, this would be a very useful and safe feature!

I use the car for work, travel nearly every day and get in and out of the car often. Therefore my opinion is based on my experience only.
Some of you might have a different experience or opinion.

Are you getting voice control on the GPS? all I can get is "Go Home"...
someone did mention that POI's work with voice control but I've forgotten to test it. All destination based commands get the "does not work in your region" or something of that like...

MY15 KL (build date: Sept 11 2014)

Nav via VR works - 'find address xyz, suburb, state'
Find POI works - 'Find schools/service station/etc'

I suspect that for the MY14 though you will receive the message: 'I'm sorry - speech destination entry is not possible for this country'

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Great!

So I purchased my car in mid October 2014 and don't have features that cars registered only a month later have.
My car was complianced in September 2014, so it is for sure a MY14.

I'm not a happy cmper at all. I'm on holidays the next two weeks, so the car won't be moved, but the Jeep dealer will get a visit once I'm back.

Wow I can understand your complaints on the uconnect but to complain on the fuel economy show me a car of this size that is any better !!

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

That's not the point!
Jeep advertises this car with a fuel economy of 5.8 litres per 100 km and with 5.1 on the freeway.

Both figures are not achievable at this stage.

Car magazines tested them with higher figures to mine, which shows that my driving is not too bad in regards to consumption.

Yes, we all know that the official figures are usually not achievable, but this is false advertising in my opinion.
