I got a new set of sensors (5) shipped from the US for just over $100, so there is another alternative for you.

Thanks. Yes, made some enquiries - one place said they didn't like to take a chance on reusing the sensors, the other said no problem...

Greg, as you have the TH wheels now, do you still need those sensors ? Otherwise can you pass on where you bought them as I expect local sales will be eye watering. Was thinking of changing the wheels and tyres and if I did that then might make selling the originals more attractive to another KL owner of they had sensors too ?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Sigh. It seems that contrary to what I was told, not all software updates were undertaken before delivery as my uConnect software is 14.29.9 although 14.47.1 is available for download (other thread) with some seemingly worthwhile fixes. Time for some downloading it seems...

A few more observations...

(and the photos will be coming in the next couple of days !)

Jotting these down now while they are fresh in my mind - after a while you just get used to some things with new cars so better to do it now ! I've had many new cars of many types so I have a bit of experience here !

1. I am lucky enough to have folding and dipping mirrors - it would be great if there was the option like some cars to have the mirrors fold on lock. Best thing about having that set up is being able to look at your car and know it is locked !

2. Steering is a bit weird in feel. I know it is electronic but so is the VW I have been driving. I expect I'll get used to it but as I say, it is just a bit "different".

3. You can't have the seat venting and heating on at the same time. You could on a Volvo I had - the combination was suggested as a way to dry out wet clothing.

4. When you are selecting different Media sources, it is annoying to have to press twice to swap from SD card to iPod. Petty I know but could have been coded better.

5. The leather on my drivers seat seemed quite creased and used from new. Production variations on the leather I suppose. Something to keep my eye on.

6. The cargo blind is pretty rubbish and not in line with the quality of the rest of the car. Those vinyl extensions to fill the gap to the seatbacks are nasty.

7. It is great that you can scrub through a podcast - in my VW, you had to hold down the FF button to skip through. I often listen to a particular 4+ hour podcast with 10 minute advert breaks so this is a good thing !

8. Through some strange combination of stopping the car but leaving the key with family while I went and collected something, the car wouldn't start. Got out of the car and locked it etc. without success. After a few attempts all eventually corrected itself but the combination of auto stop/start and keyless start seemed to confuse the car (and me). Not quite as straightforward as the Volvo I had.

9. The active parksense, blindspot monitoring and so on can be a bit confusing with alarms going off all over the shop but I hope to master everything soon...

10. You touch it every time you drive the car but to me the leather on the steering wheel feels a bit artificial and slippery. Doesn't feel the way a VW wheel does.

11. No soft lining in the bottom of the door pockets ? Bit of a shortcut to me...

12. What do you use that little cubby hole for on the right of the steering wheel - too small for business cards, leatherman or anything apart from change - which will rattle around ?

...More to follow I guess but I am indeed liking the car so far. My family is happy "we bought a Jeep" too although some of the other family members aren't particularly supportive. I know for the same price as certain dual cab utes for example, my Jeep has many, many more features.

Hi
Yes, i still need mine as I have to get them refitted to the extra set of wheels. I really only wanted two wheels but they would only sell as a set so I took all 4. I will on-sell 2 if I can find another TH owner who wants them.

I bought the sensors from EBay

D'oh. I didn't read your post properly. ~$100 is good as I expect it will cost almost that to get someone to remove them from my old wheels anyway.

Think I will go with new wheels and tyres and sell the others...

There are a few White Limited's around here now so different wheel will give me some individuality !

Just a stab in the dark, but try turning your "LaneSense" Off (button under 8 inch display) and see if that makes the steering better.

I've read reviews that LaneSense will make the steering feel weird on normal public roads. Something about the computer trying to compensate / help you ...... etc....

I reckon that I'll only activate the LaneSense system if I'm on a long trip on a Freeway (Hume Hwy for example), otherwise it stays off in general (suburban) driving conditions.

You get used to it and I actually like it now and when I drive a different car its' absence is quite noticeable.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Been busy in the last few months, haven't been here much...

12k service due
Issues I've raised are
1) transmission shift 2nd to 3rd is very poor.
2) bluetooth constantly drops out between phone and car
Uconnect firmware may need updating
3) March 2013 maps installed on a June 2014 car needs updating
4) outside temp often 10*c out in hot weather
5) rear cargo blind doesn’t stay fixed and often retracts during driving
6) park sense sensors often give false positives and occasionally the system turns off completely
7) Auto cruise system occasionally turns off as well

I have the latest Uconnect but I'm hoping they can resolve my bluetooth issues, I've upgraded the software on my LG phone as well.
The maps are way old.

Sensor issues are not a big deal but it is a surprise when you are cruising on active cruise control and you hit the + button to squeeze it up to 11 and the cruise turns off and says it's not available...
Likewise the wipers come on at odd times and the parking sensors go off for no reason,
my bugbear is still that lazy 2nd to 3rd transmission change.
Cargo blind RHS rubber stop is falling apart and therefore the blind retracts (crookedly) and will break soon...

I'll be brutal, my Kia was a better car with less bugs but then it had less tech.
My Jeep is more fun and more comfortable to drive and more enjoyable.
A nicer car but with more bugs!
