Well our car's in at Nunawading Jeep for a second day, we found out - because they're replacing the transmission ! Normally I'd baulk at that, but when you have the 'wobble' and they know about it, it got escalated to a STAR case (or whatever it's referred to here) and so we'll have (here's hoping) a wobble free car.

Funny, service is due in another 700 km's

Excellent PJ. Glad it's being sorted for you. Reading on the KL forum, the replacement tranny will set you right so here's to many more Km's travelling wobble-free.

Keep us updated.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Just realised that there's some liquid (possibly water) dripping on my exhaust, when I stop the car. No idea what it is, but guessing it is condensation from the AC?

Only reason I realised it was happening was because it was making a sizzling sound when it hit the hot exhaust.

Anyone have any ideas? Gonna get them to look at it when I take the car in when I can.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hi all...been overseas for a few months and got back a few weeks ago...so I haven't been on much lately.

Update on my car
18000 on the clock 2 false low tyre warnings in the last few weeks and now the engine light on... It took a week or so to get into the service centre, oil pressure sender was faulty (showing low). I'm amused because for me the car should hard stop if the sender says low pressure... anyhow City Jeep had no spares so I'm taking it back in a few weeks.
They showed me the recall notice (which arrived in the mail same day) - no spares for that either.
I've had a major whinge about the tranny which I feel is still wrong after a re-learn before my holiday... they will take it for a few days and look again.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Transmission may finally be fixed, new firmware flashed again, no news on the other faults and although they had it for 3 days they forgot to do the oil pressure sender so It's going back again....

Took the car back for the pressure sensor replacement and the thread is stripped on the oil cooler so it's on back order from the USA... car is still running but yet another problem for me.

Good news is the tranny now behaves mostly as expected with the odd bump and bang but otherwise performing ok, bad news is my economy has jumped a litre/100, maybe it will settle down but I suspect the fix for the tranny shift point issue was just to push the revs higher before changing....

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

The woes continue....
The oil cooler and sensor were replaced a few weeks back and all seemed ok.
Then I spotted a few drops of oil on the garage floor, they looked fresh and the floor was pressure washed last year. I threw a sheet of cardboard under the car and watched it for a week.
A couple of drops a day falling from somewhere round the rear diff/transmission area.
I slid under today and there is a leaking seal where the rear axle exits the rear "transmission" for want of a better word (I'm not sure if it's a diff/transfer case/tranny).
Not good, at 22,000 klms I've had this car back to the shop so often I'm seriously thinking of selling it.
That's what you get for buying a first generation.

Main issues
Transmission shift, needs a flash and re-learn
R05 (i think, safety recall)
Broken rubber stopper on the cargo blind RHS
Intermittent dropouts on bluetooth for phone (could be phone and not car, but check for updates)
Outdated maps on GPS (they told me march 2013 is the latest version)
Issues with ambient air temp
Issues with ACC cruise turning off alone
Issues with park sensors going off while the car is stationary and no obstacles in sight.

Issues they attended to
Oil change & filter, all checks and standard service
Transmission-no
R05 -no
broken rubber -no
Bluetooth, tested with iPhone (i run android) no fault found and no updates
Maps- no updates available
Air temp -no
Acc-no
Park sensors -no

I'm sure there were more on the list but to be honest the only ones I really cared about were the transmission, bluetooth and safety recall. I made it clear that I was less worried about the other issues.
I feel I just got a standard service, the bluetooth parings were reset so I repaired my phone but the same issue occurs(I've repaired multiple times).

There are maps available for the newer jeeps 2015 and I suspect they are a newer version (as voice control seems to have more support), maybe they are incompatible but what does that mean? I bought a June 2014 car with March 2013 maps, is that the best I will get? They were over a year old before the model hit Aus. they are now 2 years old and the car is only 9 months from release. My wrong assumption was that a brand new line of cars with brand new tech would have brand new maps.

anyhow enough ranting, they are giving me a spare car for 2 days next month to address my issues.

edit* P.S I was a bit cheeky and emailed them a link to another website that listed all of the TSB's for the KL.
I know someone who actually prints them out and leaves them on the front seat when he drops his car off.
I have just ordered a my15 TH in
Mango Tango .
What shpuld the latest map version be, 2013 seemsvery olffor a 2015 car. Garmi are selling 2016 maps ontheir hand helds. Are maps automatically updated with eachservice/ firmware upgrade????

I would have to check the version number, the newer maps have color rendering of things like lakes and rivers in blue and there are options to turn on red light camera and speed camera warnings which you will keep off by default as the beeping interrupts the stereo.

I got City Jeep to put mine on a hoist today and check the seal on the rear left axle, they will replace the seal next week and do the rear lift module recall at the same time.

Will send pics when I get it back. The drive Hobart to GC should be a good tester.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hi there

First time here. In the market for a family (kids 9,7,5) car. Kids really keen on a Jeep, largely due to Richmond footy club sponsorship. Amazing to see actually.

I thought a Hyundai was the way to go and went to see a Jeep just to tick the box, but I really really liked the Cherokee

No huge hurry (we keep our cars for 10 years) and budget is important, but I do like the Sport with included leather and free iPad for $33k

Then I was researching and saw the 75th anniversary Cherokee is out in May. Not sure about the bronze wheels, but it seems to address all the reservations I had. Sunroof, mesh/ cloth seats which is fine and audio controls on wheel (hooray) and big 8.4" display. And a driver's footrest! Not sure about 2.4 or 3.2 and am mindful of the issues some have had. We are a 1 car family. We are not dragsters at all.

Specs: Jeep Life®: Jeep brand celebrates 75 years of legendary history with full line-up of new special-edition models

Nervous about the purchase, but hoping for decent pricing and have enquired. Hope we can get the beige interior in Oz

Thoughts on the green (special edition)

Servicing every 6 months and short warranty a bit of a drag, and not sure what colour, but looking forward to seeing it. I wonder what will be the price?

Will keep you updated. Cheers
