Good on you SimonsJeep and welcome

You've come to the right place to research all of your KL questions. Enjoy reading through the Posts and most of your questions should be answered. If not, just ask, and someone will help. You'll end up knowing more about the KL here than the Salesperson at the Jeep Dealership

All the best

Simon - found your way here. Welcome to JG.

Thoughts on the green (special edition)
I love the recon green colour of the 75th anniversary edition. The only thing I regret about my KL Limited purchase is the colour. I was swayed by the husband and the child at the time - so went with True Blue but I really wanted eco-green (which has been discontinued now) so I'm all in favour of the recon green.

Dunno about pricing given the lacklustre performance of the Aust $ against the greenback and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Let's just hope it's reasonable.

Anyway, keep us updated as to how you go.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Much obliged.

Do owners use 91 petrol or PULP? I've had 12 years of PULP (Mazda 6) and I'm Jack of it. But I'll be treating our next car like a new pin.

And good point, Marty. I've looked around plenty of dealers, selling plenty of makes, in the last month or 2. I've just been staggered at the lack of knowledge, poor selling skills (leaping into a trial close) and inability to select the features and present the benefits. Maybe one day I'll have a go myself. I'm a bit of a research nut, but gee whiz, how can someone not know things like functionality of audio, tyre specs or trim inclusions through the grades.

Dealer said he might have pricing details for the 75th anniversary in a week or so.

interested in 2.4l owners. We are not dragsters as I mentioned, but 2.4l quite ok or quite underwhelming and would people seriously suggest 3.2. 95% city driving.

Also, how's the vision from the back seat with the sill. Some cars are so high and my kids like to see out.

Cheers to all - learned much already.

In my case, and I'm not alone here, I provided my Salesperson with a VIN, a Build Sheet, and the date the ship arrived in Melbourne, all thanks to JeepGarage

In your particular case (95% city driving) it appears that the 2.4 would be fine. The 2.4 in my 2009 Honda Odyssey is kinda gutless, but does the daily drive job satisfactorily. I use 95RON in my car. The rear sill in the KL does appear quite high, but my 12 year old doesn't seem to have a problem seeing (out) over it.

Hi

I'd go for the 3.2l model as we had a Fiat Freemont with the 2.4 and we get better economy out of the 3.2 than we did with the Freemont, also using 91 RON fuel gives us 8.5 l/100 highway and <10 l/100 in suburbia.

You're on the right track with the Cherokee it's the best car we've owned!!!

Regards

Grahame

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hi again

All the jeep sales people had a session in Sydney yesterday. Looks like the refresh units will be out in Q4 this year. The 75th anniversary edition Cherokee is said to be much closer to MY17 Cherokees than this year's. That'll be out in May

Pricing TBA. Be nice if the Aussie dollar could rise a bit before they finalise the list!

Anyone have the panoramic sunroof? I've never had a sunroof, much less a panoramic one. Does it get too windy or is it noisy? Kids are really excited by the idea

We've had Sunroofs in our cars for nearly 10 years. The KL Cherokee has five (5) automatic positions and a "wherever you like opened" position

1. Fully closed,
2. Blind open only,
3. Vent position (partially raised at the rear),
4. Open just short of full open (best position for less "buffering" effect at speed), and
5. Fully open (increased "buffering" is experienced in this position at highway speeds).

We love our Sunroofs and the one in the Cherokee is a beaut. However, when driving diagonally over inclines or negotiating tight multi-story carparks, you will hear slight "creaking" from the sunroof as the roof flexes. For me this is no big deal; it's just the trade-off of having a gaping hole cut out of your roof.

We'll always get a sunroof in our vehicles and we use it as much as we can

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yeah, it's a big draw card for me. That's a lovely photo.

I'm 42 and was oK with the sport model, but I think we're going to get a latitude type fit out, on which the 75th anniversary is based. We are only 1 car in the family and for that extra money we think we'll really value the additions. We keep our cars for 10 years, too

Anyone with kids using a Cherokee? We have 2, soon to be 1, in child seats and 3 in total and just wondering how you've found the room in the back.

Ha!, I appear to be the only one answering your questions SimonsJeep A while ago there were plenty of Posters here on the KL Forum, but I guess they're off driving and enjoying their beloved Jeeps

We only have one 13 year old. However I often drive her and three of her friends to the Movies, Shopping Mall, Sports, School Events etc etc. So 3 x 13 year olds appear to sit in the back quite comfortably.

Thanks again

I'm at the "Gee whiz what about a Jeep and now I've sat in one and watched 15 hours of reviews and am really excited about getting one and I just want to talk about it to anyone and everyone" stage.

Be back to ask some more closer to May and if I get some guidance on price.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Oi! I'm still here - I'm just busy busy at the moment.

I also have the pano roof on my Limited. It's great. Marty has pretty well covered it in his post. Child (age 12) has it completely sorted now and he controls it.

Said child and his friends report that they prefer riding in the KL over our GC. I suspect it comes down to more 'snuggyness' in the KL. Less 'floating' around those huge seats in the back of the Grand.

I can't emphasize enough just how impressed I am with the KL. We purchased it sight unseen ie: in the flesh - (signed the contract prior to demos arriving in the dealership). We made our decision on the back of our MY14 GC (which is also a brilliant vehicle) coupled with info available on the net.

Have never regretted that decision. It has exceeded my expectations.

I know how you feel. It's something about the mystique of Jeep that has kept me intrigued and interested in the brand over the years.

How many other Car Manufacturers can enthuse people (such as our own Scottina06, ....thank you Sir) to initiate and organise a specific Car Brand Forum that can boast nearly 100,000 members?

Yes, in general, the Jeep, at times, can be a pain in the arse. However I've read a few negative comments regarding other Cars on their Forum sites too. The pleasing thing is that I believe that Jeep (as a Brand) are slowly, but surely, getting better with the reliability and quality control of their vehicles compared to 10 years ago.

Yes, you'll read a lot of negative comments about a Jeep here; but this Forum is no different from any other Car Forums. People being people, will always post about "issues" with their vehicles, but they will rarely post about how great their car is on a Forum.

I had a love / hate relationship with my 2000 WJ Grand Cherokee Limited V8; but for shear driving enjoyment, it was one of the best cars that I've ever had the pleasure to "drive".

Our second Jeep; our current 2015 KL, is superb. And after 15 months of ownership, we've had absolutely zero issues with it. Well done Jeep (See my Garage for the Vehicle History).

I look forward to purchasing a new generation Grand Cherokee in 2019, and until then I'll continue to enjoy reading and learning more about Jeeps at this tremendous site.

It's a Jeep thing
