Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Well 4 months ago the plan was that I would trade in my current car for a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but that's not happening now.

I'm keeping my car, for the next 12 months, but the "Hugs & Kisses" is trading her car in on a Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2 petrol, bright white (Pano Roof, Technology pack and Electronics pack).

We drove a Limited today and loved it. I've driven a few vehicles in the Medium SUV category these last few days and the Jeep is right up there. You can't beat the features of the Jeep in that category too. Very impressive. I'm going for another test drive tomorrow then I'm putting the gloves on to start wheeling & dealing.

I orginally went to a local Stealership but I didn't feel the love, so as recommended by a few from JeepGarage I ended up at the new Bayford Jeep (Hawthorn) Dealership and the service was great. Thankyou JeepGarage members

We never thought that the wife would get a Jeep before me. The Cherokee wasn't even on her radar until last week. Funny how things work out.

Ha,ha,ha,... I was just about to hit "Submit Reply" on this thread and a Jeep advertisement comes on the TV. "Don't Hold Back" he said. I guess it was meant to be

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

No SJ&L I haven't got an "official" delivery date yet as we haven't even signed yet. However I did ask and they said, minimum 3.5 months, maximum 5 months. That's pretty general but not unexpected. We're in no hurry, so we don't mind the wait.

I excitedly mentioned to the Wife about a beautiful white SRT with Pano roof and rear seat DVD that the Dealeship had there. She just looked at me with a sad expression and said, "Oh, that's too bad,.... sorry."

Of course once we sign, I'll become a financial member of JeepGarage and get the real delivery info from Milous.

Sucko you. I would have given you a moment of pause though. I would love an SRT. That would be a tough choice for me.

What engine with regards to the KL. CRD or Pentastar?

If we were going for an ordered Limited with Tech/Convenience as we originally planned, I think they said that they were taking October build orders, which would've been about Jan/Feb delivery - too long ! So we picked out one that's on the boat with Luxury pack as well (hey, it's going to be a company car so why not !).

Didn't really think about Bayford Camberwell - we went through Nunawading although a mate of mine got a pretty good deal out of City Jeep.

Mind me asking what $'s they're quoting and what options you're looking at ?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

It'll be the Pentastar.

I've been keeping a keen eye on the Jeep Diesel engines on here and although I wouldn't mind a diesel, I'm thinking not yet. I'm not saying the diesel engine isn't good, I'm sure that it is great, but I've never had a diesel before and I'm not ready get one just yet. It may be a stupid reason, but each to his own.

When I e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y get to buy a Grand Cherokee in 12 to 24 months or so, it will most likely be the CRD.

No prices just yet, just got some "grey" figures for trade-in etc but I don't want to publish his "grey" figure here because I think that it is way off reality. I'll post prices once I sign, which will be within the next couple of days.

The Lux pack is the vented seats and you will enjoy these in the heat of the summer. We have this on the Grand. Not an option we have chosen for the KL Limited (just couldn't quite justify the additional cost) but as I said, love it on the GC.

Marty - As you have probably read on the WK2 threads, we have had absolutely zero issue with our CRD Overland. Coming up to its 30,000km service now and have suffered no DPF issues. Fuel economy (as of today) is sitting at the 8.4/100.

As far as the KL is concerned I'm expecting an economy around the mid 5's to 6 mark.

All that aside, you guys will be taking delivery before me, so it would be great to hear your thoughts on the vehicle once you have it on the road. There are so few around that it is difficult to gauge at the moment. I read the US owners threads but it would be nice to hear from an Aussie perspective.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Okay,.... so my research into a medium SUV for my Wife is almost complete.

I drove the "class leading" Mazda CX5 recently and although it is a nice car, it just didn't have that "WOW factor" that the Jeep Cherokee has, especially in Limited trim.

I'm going to look (again) at a Honda CR-V (VTi-L) this morning, but I realise that it is lacking quite a few features that the Jeep has as standard.

We've had 2 x Honda CR-Vs in the past so moving away from Honda for the Jeep is a big deal for us. You definitely can not fault the reliability of the Honda, however I'd be pissed off if I purchase the CR-V now and then an update (refresh) is released within the next 12 months, which I believe is happening. The refreshed CR-V was spotted testing in the USA last month.

So, at this stage, it is highly likely that we'll go with the Jeep, despite the lengthy wait on delivery. There's no doubting that the Jeep is a great car, but I need to confirm that I'll be given great after-sales Service by Jeep too. This is an area where Honda shines.

I'll report back later with price etc as I'll get serious with our negotiations this morning. Standby
