Re: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk

It says it is delayed... And yes says it is still happening... But with the concurrent post that the v8 hellcats are gone in 2019... Would they really do a single model year... ? Hope the rumors are wrong but seems like it there are issues

Re: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk

I find it hard to believe FCA would spend all this money developing the Hellcat engine and then end it short. They are on top right now in the HP wars (something we have been waiting forever for) and ending that short seems unlikely. I think without question we will see either supercharged or turbo 6's in the line up but Americans still love their V8's. It will be interesting to see what options are available for the next GC but I sure hope they continue with the SRT (even if it is "powered by SRT) and still offer the 6.2 Hellcat engine.

Re: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk

Was trolling the new site and saw Scott mention that SRT models will switch away from V8s in the future. More than likely I'm done with Chrysler regardless (thanks FIAT) but the V6 thing will seal it. Don't care if it has 1000hp. If I want a V6 I'll buy a boring GTR.

In the market for a new company truck, Ford was at the top of the list. After finding out that every damn new F150 on the lot is an Ecoboost I'm back to looking at GMC/Chevy. I can get the 4.3 or 6.2L V8 in the Chevy truck. I've driven the Ecoboost, I understand its' merit, but it has no soul.

Such a shame that the biggest scam of our generation has so much credibility (fudged) that its slowly ruining the automotive industry. 80MPG mandates here we come.

I'm also highly disappointed they are doing the Trackhawk as a limited edition, old body style. I refuse to drive old body style so I'm not going to plop down money only to be outdated a year later.

Im with you, i hear the real world mileage on the F150 ecoboost is terrible, my friend had to do a lot of searching to find a Platinum with a v8 instead of that ecoboost. I read somewhere on here ford acknowledged that the carbon buildup with the di could be a problem at a 100k fot those keeping them for the long haul.

Re: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk

That's why I picked up the Raptor when I did as well - my '14 is the last one with the 6.2. The next gen looks good with an even beefier suspension set up and it's lighter, but it will only be available with the Ecoboost. Screw that.

And, the gas mileage on the EB is not as advertised. I have several friends with them in their trucks and they don't get any better than the v8s unless you are steady cruising at 55mph.

Yep, my Cousin's husband has one. Driving around town is fun with EB, but if you try an tow anything, you are wrapping out that EB engine and MPG drops to around 3-5 mpg.

You can't just call him your cousin? Lol

I had an Explorer Sport. It got terrible mileage but was kinda fun.

I just want an SRT but my wife always shuts me down.

Cool Re: 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk

Took the ol' WK2 SRT8 out to drag my boat around this afternoon, up some windy hills to the boat ramp/park.. I have done the same route many times with the F-150 Raptor. Today was the first time with my Jeep. I have to say, it easily handled that boat, as good, if not better, than the Raptor, and the Jeep has noticabley more pep going up hills, even in Tow mode. The Raptor would struggle pulling the boar up this one huge hill, but the Jeep tore right up and kept pulling. That was really nice to see! I love this thing, and miss my Raptor less after today, but I did love that guy..

I have both a Raptor and an SRT and find the SRT is much easier to tow with. However nothing beats the utility of a truck bed.

I also totally agree with you!

I traded in my V8 powered 4th Generation 2005 Toyota 4Runner when I learned that the 5th Generation wouldn't offer a V8. I picked up a V8 powered 2012 WK2 Overland; and then traded that in for a V8 powered 2015 Overland.

All any car maker has to do to lose me as a customer is stop offering a V8. My 1st vehicle had a 4 cylinder. Then I eventually got a V6; then a V8.

I have NO PLANS on Going Backwards on cylinders or power.
