If this is the case it SORT of puts a damper (at least for me) on the model. Not to suggest that 650 HP (just for the sake of argument) isn't outrageous, but for 6 figures, I want the "full package". Also not exactly sure I want to spend that $ on what amounts to our family car. Annoying enough I have to stress and park the Viper 1/4 mile across every parking lot to avoid vandalism ... now I'll have to carry my family's mall shopping spree across that same distance to my $100G Jeep!
I completely agree with you......... furthermore, I was at the dealer yesterday picking up my '17 SRT and I jokingly said "maybe I will be back next year to trade it in for the HC" he told me not to jump in buying the first year model, but wait when all the euphoria (which commands premiums over MSRP) and the possible power/chassis issues are resolved.......
Take it for what it is worth, but I thought it was interesting coming from a dealer.....

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

Given the generation change due in 2019 and all the talk V8's being replaced by turbo V6's, will there be a second year Hellcat Hemi Jeep?

If I can pull it off, I'm not taking the risk and going for the '18.

If it's six figures, I'm not going to do it...no longer a bargain on principle alone...

I'm in SoCal and see Porsche Cayenne's and Range Rover Sports in parking lots all the time. So not everyone with an expensive vehicle feels the need to park far away out of fear or concern.

Regarding the possible 6 figure price tag...

I feel a Porsche Cayenne Turbo(S) or a Range Rover Sport is worth a 6 figure number, but don't think any Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT/Trackhawk would be. But of course, the Porsche and Range Rover are blazingly fast onroad while still retaining actual good offroad ability. The SRT/Trackhawk is and will probably be a great vehicle. But they aren't in the same class.

You forgot to mention the X5M which is actually faster than the rover and porsche......
A trackhawk at $100K tops or any of the Germans, (forget the English made one).........
I still would take the Trackhawk and use the extra $40K (cost of the Germans equally equipped) for one more dedicated track car......
BTW, I race a Porsche (spec. Boxster) and I drive a 911 in the spring/summer/fall, so I consider myself a Porsche man, but a Jeep SUV guy....

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

Any idea if the trackhawk will maintain any kind of towing ability? Part of the appeal of the Jeep is that it still has some towing ability. I've never towed anything with mine yet, but would still like to if I got rid of my Ram.

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

Starting price will be in the 79900 range. I'm hearing rumors the wk2 trackhawk will continue for a 2nd year along side the WL. Then transfer over to the WL platform in 2019.

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

Scott,

I know that the WK and WK2 were the nomenclature for the more recent generation JGC platforms. I will assume WL is the next generation. With that said, and your comment above, do you know if there are plans to feature a Trackhawk model (or at least similar engine/drivetrain) for the WL generation?

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

$79k starting! Now we are talking.
And although the GTR is holding its 500lbs-ft because of a stout driveline the jeep track hawks driveline has to overcome its much heavier weight as well as much more TQ. They will do it with electronic torque reduction.
LOAD is the key word here.

As for performance vs cost/value.
If it's reliable and cheap it is NOT FAST
If it's fast and cheap it's not RELIABLE
If it's fast and reliable then it's NOT CHEAP

Re: How many would buy a Jeep Hellcat/TrackHawk.......

Maybe I missed it (and I apologize in advance) but when (if) the Hellcat (TrackHawk) be in the next gen Grand Cherokee... I can't see FCA doing all this work for a single model year... I would like a body style update

I am all about the power upgrade ... but let's be honest as a daily driver 500 vs 700 HP is not very applicable (but fun nonetheless)... for the price premium I want some creature comforts and I want it to look new

I am thinking a new updated style upgraded uconnect upgraded interior... new features etc... and a supercharged 6.2L then hell FCA can make it a 95k sticker and it will sell out

Now if what they come out with sucks well I guess I buy on the pre-owed market...

Lastly, I would like a few hundred units to be on the road to see how the power train holds up before I trade in my tried and tested ...

Thoughts?
