I haven't been around this forum for a while, but I need your input........

My 2012 SRT is aging in style and I have loved every moment of it from tracking it at Lime Rock and New Jersey Motorsports to just towing my race car to club race.

Now........ I am thinking of buying a new one, but I haven't done much research on its improvements and my wife is asking me to look at the X5M for a change of scenery........

Could you please give me some "ammunition" so I can get in on a new SRT?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.......

The biggest difference between the 2 is gonna be price, 30k difference. Get her a nice fancy purse and get the SRT...done deal

The X5M is faster no doubt but in a very refined (too refined for me) way. Styling, imho is BORING....plus as a racer you are by definition a tinkerer....the X5M is wicked expensive to tinker on.....Plus, fwiw, for X5M money the Cayenne GTS kicks its arse with drop dead styling, man the GTS looks like it's going 125 parked!

Buut, bang for the fun buck, it's SRT all the way!

My dream garage is my SRT for the winter and tow/utility and a C7 Z06 7spd for all else

Sounds like a fair deal.......except that now she will settle an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde with the savings.......

I owned a Cayenne S before trading it in for the SRT and by definition I am a Porsche aficionado (I race a spec boxster and drive a 911 Carrera S during the nice New England seasons) but for the price I think an SRT and to an extent the XM5 are better value for the money/performance.....

The X5M is certainly a more refined vehicle, had the chance to drive one recently. Was definitely impressive but I'd rather have the jeep and the extra cash. The jeep is raw, it illicits commentary from people wherever I go. I feel like it's more unique and also a little more masculine. The x5 is great but I felt like a soccer mom driving it. Can't go wrong with either but with the price differential I don't think it's a valid comparison.

The X5M is better in terms of performance and interior size/cargo capacity.

It has a lower tow rating, and honestly, those motors are pushed so hard for so much HP, I'd be weary towing with it for an extended period of time.

Get an SRT, take the extra money and apply to race car.

Consider the new GLE? Not quite the same styling as your two choices but I kinda like it.

As far as towing. The 8spd jeep(2014-2016) will tow about 1700 more pounds than your 2012.

One of those will be in my garage in the near future. Bellissimo.
It will cost way more than the 30k difference.

The X5M was my other option when I was in the market for a FAST SUV in 2013. I took a chance with the 2014 Jeep SRT and I can honestly say I don't regret it. For the $72 that I spent on a brand new Jeep I would have gotten a 3 year old X5M. (That's someone else abused) But the 2015 X5M I would do. That $hi! Is awesome but then it all comes down to the $$$$$$$$. $30k at that. That's why the Track Hawk is not happening for $100k I would get the X5M.

Thanks for the info. I would like to hear more about your opinion of the Track Hawk vs 2016 X5M......
