A good buy or not

I am considering switching to a srt and wanted some advice first
the following is the link to the the jeep in question:

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/ctd/3165083120.html

Now about 3 months ago I drove by this dealership and saw this jeep. I test drove it and thoroughly enjoyed it. The car seemed a bit abused though. Whenever i would accelerate i would feel and hear a very noticeable vibration from what felt like right below my right arm resting on the center console. That being said i made an offer well below what they were even asking at the time which was almost 23,000. They weren't hesitant to accept it at all and even called back the next week begging me to come back in. Here shortly i will be returning home from my deployment and if this car is still available what would your concerns be? estimated repairs? was this a member here? any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: A good buy or not

Looks like its off craigslist so someone mustve got it!

Anyway, these Jeeps a re pretty reliable all in all. Of course like anything totally depends on previous ownership, how they took care of, things like that. Without a carfax and history of maintenance/accidents, stuff like that its hard to tell, even with a mechanic looking it over once. All in all, the trannys are strong and as long as shes under 60k miles its good, anything over Id have fluid/filter swapped and the same with all the diffs.

And hopefully the oil was changed very 3k with something decent, if thats the case I wouldn't worry about anything there. All in all the suspension is the weakest link but with some upgraded endlinks and sways it'll stiffen up nicely. Also want to check out the shocks/springs, a nice set of coilovers would do the trick there!

As for vibration, could be a lot of things, wheel bearing would be my first guess, but if it was in an accident could also be steering related or something like that. GL to you in your quest, keep look on cars.com, theres a lot on there!

Re: A good buy or not

Thanks for checking it out for me and for all the info as well. I started searching cars.com and found there were numerous within "driving" distance. I also decided that going with a few years newer probably be my best bet. Is there a certain year(s) 06-10 that has a higher demand? If i do end up going the srt route i will definitely get back to you with any questions about beefing up the suspension. thanks man

08-10 has the nicer body style, interior, navigation, red brembos, etc

Most of the fastest built Jeeps out there are 07 ;-)

Any year SRT Jeep is a good buy in my book!

Re: A good buy or not

'08+ with the darker interior is definitely nicer IMO. I have Black, but the blue is really nice and the rarest color.

Re: A good buy or not

Agreed 08+ is the way to go...I'm glad you are going for a real SRT and not the clone direction unless you were going to go a very unique route like a few members i.e. Scott, Jacob etc. But if you are just going to do rims and a body kit on a non SRT and nothing else then why even do it? So to reiterate go 08+
