Re: Anyone ever have rust bubbles?

That will be coming from the inside out, no amount of waxing/washing/claying would help that.

Just need to ensure during Winter that the arches are properly cleaned as any dirt will contain salt and as it doesn't dry it just starts eating at it.

MB did have a bad spell with rust, even some 2007/8 cars. My CLK is galvanised but like many other Mercs it is still showing some rust on the rear inner lips - bad design basically. Going to the paint shop to get it sanded down, treated and repaired.

Jeep done the same thing, arches get bombarded with rock chips etc, and during Winter it will happen.

Re: Anyone ever have rust bubbles?

Remembered warranty is 10 yr 100K on perforation only. Also this is repair of the panels not replacement. I guarantee by your 10y up this cancer will be back. Good luck

Glad to hear you got it fixed through the dealer!

They replaced the entire quarter panel. Looks great. And I'm glad they replaced after what the dealer told me they found. Hope that is the end of it.

Come on then, tell us what is was like on the inside.
Did they give any explanation for why this happened?

They will take care of you but you need to get the right dealer. Has anyone seen an 03-07 ram with quarter panel rust???? They have particular "repairs" you want. I had my dealer on restriction for a few quarters we replaced so we found another way around it and started to fix them right, we got them to realize we were right and had people from miles coming to us.

What do you want to know.

Sorry for the delay, I was trying to see if I cold get a pic of the quarter panel. No luck, but they said it was about the size of a dollar bill that was beginning to rot out. I picked my jeep up in December ''09. Just about 3 years old.
No explanation of why?

Re: Anyone ever have rust bubbles?

Its the sand and salt on the inner lip behind the fuel filler neck, we saw a few of them from cars from VT and NH.

Re: Anyone ever have rust bubbles?

I had an 07 Tahoe, washed a lot, (black and I like my vehicles clean) and it has a few rust bubbles on the back hatch. Similar to what you had. Surprising that this happens to new vehicles

Re: Anyone ever have rust bubbles?

I only ever wash our cars for weddings, christenings or funerals. Rust hasn't been a problem. The Grand gets washed after off-roading also so I'll be keeping an eye on it for rust.
