What are you towing with your SRT8?

Re: Best Daily Driver Ever?

Id say beside like an Evo/STI or a 335 its the best, if you need towing/space its better, the other two are better on gas so for someone who doesn't tow/have family, those two may be better. not as fun though imo

Re: Best Daily Driver Ever?

In all honesty I think my 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited was a better all around daily driver. It was not as fast or good looking, but it was capable of some mild off road driving, like at our summer place in northern Wisconsin and could tow 5500 lbs pretty effortlessly. It was much more sure footed in the snow during the winter. Would I give up the SRT for another 5.9? Hell no! But I do miss the old girl. I am seriously considering picking up another one. In the mean time I'm getting a Limited front bumper and winter tires to see how much that helps.

A TBSS isn't even a production vehicle anymore so that's an option but the MPGs are the same!!

IMO, the next best option is a WK2 HEMI. Better MPG, still has some oomph and is way nicer!
Toyota Highlander = 19 MPG. (real world use)
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 = 14 MPG (real world use)
5 miles per gallon difference
Simple Math:
Highlander
1000 miles / 19 mpg = 52.6 gallons x ~3.00 per gallon = $157.80
Jeep
1000 miles / 15 mpg = 71.4 gallons x ~3.00 per gallon = $214.20

$56.40 to drive 1000 miles (or 5.6 cents per mile) in a race car in sheeps clothing??....Well worth it IMO.

Problems with that though. The Highlander uses regular, the SRT8 premium, and who the hell is getting 14mpg in their SRT8, some grandma? Drive it how its designed to be driven and you're getting 9-10mpg at best.

Re: Best Daily Driver Ever?

The SRT is the most fun I have had as a daily driver. Is it the best? No. Simply because when you get down to it, the ride is too harsh and the fuel mileage is horrendous. Not that I care about fuel mileage but when you say best daily driver, I think of comfortability and excellent fuel mileage.

The SRT gets the most fun as a daily driver award.

Re: Best Daily Driver Ever?

I average around 14mpg........but I don't really live "in town" and it is a lot of 45-70mph cruising for me.

Hey...It's the resident pessimist. Go sell your Jeep so we don't have to listen to your negativity any more.
You must be a real blast to hang out with. Do you ever smile?
Anyway, like I had said, REAL WORLD driving results in the numbers given.
And yes, some people do buy Premium for their car even if it isn't REQUIRED!

As far as driving it like it was designed to be driven? You're a fool if you go everywhere driving like an A-Hole!
And if you do drive like an A-Hole all the time in the Highlander, you won't be getting 19 MPG anyway, more like 15, so your argument is a mute point anyway. Actually, can I just mute you entirely anyway?

Same here, even with the 392 and all the mods, its @ ~ 14 MPG. My old 5.9 was exactly the same, and the old 4.0 ZJ was ~ 15-16MPG, so comparatively the MPG is not too bad.

Re: Best Daily Driver Ever?

I agree too tho I have a 3.sev. I was on the highway yesterday on my way home from work and this newer Range Rover Sport *Supercharged* rolls up on me and is driving next to me. I'm just like whatever cause I'm just driving home from work. Then he mashes it. I hear the engine scream but it didn't get up like no SRT jeep. I was like $80k+ for a SC Rangr Sport that can be owned by a $40. SRT jeep. I know the trim in the RR may be nicer but I'll that the SRT jeep for $40k Alex!!! LOL
