They don't really check loudness down here in FL since we have no emmissions testing anyways. They use the loud exhaust as a reason to pull me over then look for other stuff such as expired tag, license, insurance etc. They even gave me shit about having a nitrous bottle in the back. Cop says,"hey son you got a nitrous bottle in there". I said yeah so? Cop says,"thats illegal to run on the street". I said yeah I only use it at the track

Mine is less that two years old and has 41k on the clock (about to catch up to my GN). So yea, I would say I am a high mileage driver. The upkeep isn't THAT bad.

But, I will be honest, though... One of my company perks is paying for all fuel, maintenance (tires, brakes), etc. plus renting it from me while I am on a job. Since I am on a job usually 8+ months out of a year, that works well for me. That means I only pay for maybe one oil change a year.

If I were having to pay for all the maintenance myself, I would still do it. These thing are far too much fun NOT to drive daily.

As far as holding up, mine is doing very well. The interior still looks fantastic. The exterior looks great shy a couple of door dings. In October of last year, a detailer did an all-day cleanup and refresh job on it. He made the thing look better than new again.

Honestly, I have had a great experience with the Jeep and am very pleased with how well it's done overall.

Hey DJ RB, did you get a chance for an Intro thread yet? (*goes to look now after asking, lol)

And I agree, far too fun to keep this bad boy in the garage!!

Re: Do any of you daily drive your SRT8?

I dunno, mine isn't holding up so good. The interior still looks pretty good, but its very squeaky. The rear side panels are both cracked where they attach to the chassis. Everything rattles.

Alot of the issue is due to the flexy chassis. Most people would never notice, but in my case, bad roads, an "upgraded" suspension, and aggressive driving has taken its toll on a chassis that was designed for a normal truck, not an extreme beast.

Re: Do any of you daily drive your SRT8?

I DD mine and it is holding up very well....besides all the stone chips on the plow of a front bumper.

The only thing that has plagued me is the dreaded vibration around 75mph. Its liveable now, no thanks to any dealers.

As for any other problems....well they were caused by aftermarket parts. Squeaks/creaks frn&rear were from bwoody links but is now gone after regreasing them. Coolant spray from 180 therm...gone with a zip tie and stant locking cap. Idle fluctuations/stalling from ported throttlebody...my catch can hosing were sucking shut so I replaced them w/fuel line and the idle seems to stay flat (I don't understand this one).

Since the end of march when I bought the beast I have put 10k miles on her already. I've taken her up to Zmax NC, round trip from FL to MI to see my family, over to Gainesville about 4 or 5 times. Each time I get in it I still get that giddy feeling.

Re: Do any of you daily drive your SRT8?

Check back with me in a couple of years on the wear & tear. I'm just passing 2900 miles on mine so it's still 'new'.

Somehow I can't see it getting 'old' either.
