Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

they are more than capable in the snow from what I've read. But if you get an SRT...with the weather in nUtah...I would get winter wheels and tires.

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

I guess it depends on the snow too...A couple inches Im sure they would do fine, A foot I doubt it! LOL

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

a ft would be ok as long as its not a hard packed snow.....the stock bumper is like 7-8" from the ground.

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

I'm over in Colorado and I use my SRT as my daily driver - now that we have had some snow I figure I can help you out a bit. I'm using the stock run flats, if I had the money I would have picked up a winter tire but I don't so on with the run flats.

(1-2" of slush / packed snow / ice on road) I always see traction control indicator come on from a stop turning right or left, you can feel the Jeep give a little but let off the gas and it grips right up.

Acceleration in the slush/snow blows, but get in the rut from everyone else on the road and she pulls like normal (OK maybe not normal but very strong) I leave it in drive in the snow and have been getting used to it (I'm coming from a 1994 Grand Cherokee 5.2L)

Braking is perfect, no problems at all with stopping on the snow.

Just take it easy and give yourself plenty of time to get from A to B and you will be fine.

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

As long as you don't drive like a fool, you are a-ok.

But once the snow gets past a few inches, then the front bumper becomes an issue.

Ah, watch out for chunks of ice from the wheel wells of other cars, one fell out from the truck in front of me and smacked the lower lip - oh well. I'm also a little lower then stock.

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

From what I heard, the AWD system only send power from front to back and not to each wheel.... I wouldn't go pass 5-6 inches in it and thats with winter tires....

Re: how does the SRT do in the snow?

Absolutely no problems. I live in upstate NY where we get tons of snow...1" to 3' she handles fine. Don't gun it or get crazy and no issues. I have kept to stock RFs as well. downstate gave a very accurate review!!

I was thinking about this when I got out of the Jeep tonight and looked to see if it did any damage... HOLY SH*T that ice chunk broke the shit out of the bumper. Now I need to add that to the list of things to do in the Spring. $782.00 for a new bumper

That sux. I'll buy your old bumper off you if you get a new one.

We just got about 4" of wet snow today and now its raining. I have a 3.7 WK with the srt rep rims and Goodyear Fortera's on. It drove great in the snow, plowed roads but packed down on side roads. It seemed to drive much better than last winter when I have my stock 17" rims with crap tires and my previous 94 GC 5.2 with decent all weather tires. I've decided to leave these rims on instead of buying snow tires to mount on my 17's. I know my 3.7 doesnt compair to the srt8 but if you have good snow or all weather tires on and dont romp on the throttle I can see it driving better than most cars on the road. One of the main reasons this is my 3rd GC is its all wheel drive and I hate driving in snow, I would never get a two wheel drive vehicle again.

I remember my buddy had a Wrangler before lifted with awesome big trail tires on it and during a blizzard we were the only people on the road and the Wrangler impressed me so much with how it drove, almost like there was no snow on the roads at all it was that good.
