Re: Modding for Beginners - Bolt On Performance Mods

Excellent info! I'm not new to modding, but I am to this platform and I love to get the best result from anything I add......even if it's just for the sound of the exhaust!!!;-P

Re: Modding for Beginners - Bolt On Performance Mods

when i had my 07 for 5.5 yr i just had 2 mods of GSM CAI and CMR DYNO TUNE with a race wt of 5190 lbs and in SO CA we dont get the dry -DA in the winter months. I managed to run the 1/8 mile in the 7.90s with 98 gas and 8.08 with 91 gas. Now with my 2012 i have tried a few things but because of the trinity canned and the custom tunes you can get the engine fans seem not to work unless the ac is on and on low speed only so i have decided to run bone stock until they get that problem fixed. So far we have been out 2 times once in feb 867 ft DA and 91 gas and once in june in 2600 ft DA with 98 gas and ran the same numbers. The stock air boxs works great when pulling the air filter out as it was a .07 and 1.1 mph + and the 98 gas really helped the stock tune from pulling timing in that 2600 ft DA. Peter has hit on a lot of good stuff in his thread and he was right on on the exhaust as theres really no power gains there in fact there has been guys who lost power with the cat back exhaust. The K&N drop in filter is no help as it flows 480 cfm to the stock 440 cfm. I tend to try old school stuff and it seemed to work. I found out the tire set up on my 07 didnt work on my 2012 at all. At 5492 lb race wt i have cut 1.77 60' and on my 07 with 2 mods and 302 lbs lighter cut 1.73 60'. Good luck to your modding and Peter your the man.
