Re: My Dream SRT8

Odd dream. Why not just a Wrangler to start off at, mod that up. If I was on trails I would want to be in a Wrangler, not a WK.

**** Wranglers. You know why? Too many arrogant self absorbed yuppie Pricks drive lifted wranglers and think they are the ****ing god of 4x4s but dont even know what the locker switches on their over prices Rubicons do. **** that noise.

I have been wheeling for quite some time, i have slept in my old XJ for a week at a time and it got me places yuppie wrangler bitches will never go. The XJ, Zj, Wj,WK all have tons of cargo room for everything you need for weeks out off the main roads, the Wheel base to get you there because short wheel base sucks (and i wont buy a 4 dr JK so forget that idea) and there is always room on the roof for a basket loaded with necessities.

Sorry, dont mean to come off harsh but i hate it when people say why not 4 wheel a wrangler. Arrg. I owned 4 Cherokees before my WK and 3 were lifted. Never will i own a CJ,YJ, TJ,JK.

Re: My Dream SRT8

Do it and take it to SEMA!!!

1) Careful on the wheels/tires -- you have to clear the Brembos in the front and that's not easy to do.

2) since you want HIDs and you're getting rid of the bumpers et al, why not start with an 08/09 that have the Projector HIDs already?

3) Next SRT Engineer chat session, ask them of the QuadTrac II transfer case will work in the SRT. You might run into issues with the TCM if anything.

I like the idea -- just need to see it better in my mind's eye to decide if I'll like it.

Re: My Dream SRT8

Lol, I was just saying.... The SRT8 doesnt have a low gear, and lets face it its geared for the track, not trails. You already brought it u so I wont mention it, ok I will, the 4 door Wrangler looks kick ass for trails and hauling gear. Im looking at the 09 Essentials For jeep Vehicles catalog from quadratrec.com and it has everything needed to transform a wrangler into an unreal trail machine. NHWK, you know I love you, but I think your just going against the norm here trying to be different. You and I know trail riding means money, things get broken. You really want to take an SRT out in the woods and destroy it??? By the time you make an SRT8 trail worthy you are looking at 60K.

Can you imagine what 60K would do to a 4 door wrangler? You could put a kitchen and bathroom sink in! LOL!!!

I've been to a Jeep Jamoboree as well as local clubs and for all the Jeeps there, there are ALOT of people who do actually offroad their lifted wranglers, in fact I'd say its a 90% to 10% difference...Contrary to your assumption.
Wranglers will bring you places Grand Cherokee's will not.

I can prove that last statement wrong. I know people wheel wranglers but there are so many other jeeps with equally and more so potential then Wranglers. Ive wheeled with plenty of people and schooled wranglers on trails. Not saying that they suck but there are just too damn many of them.

Yea, i know what your saying and i wont say that a wrangler is not a capable vehicle but like i said above there are just too many out there. once youve seen a dozen lifted wranglers youve seen them all. Boring! Yes i love to be different.

But your all forgetting the point of this thread. ITS A DREAM SRT8 Not something i am actually doing. HYPOTHETICAL!!

Re: My Dream SRT8

I know its all hypothetical but don't you know the JG credo? Prove everyone's opinions, visions, and/or dreams wrong.

Now with that being said, lol, I honestly don't see why you wouldn't take your existing Jeep and drop in the motor and go from there with the mods? Why would you tear down a SRT like that? SRT's are not to be wasted my friend. There are too little running around.

Re: My Dream SRT8

I have to agree with Joe...the Limited is a decent base if you are just gonna swap everything out anyway. I mean, the interior isn't as nice, but with unlimited finances, and SRT interior is doable. Other than that, a built 426 is gonna fit in the Limited the same as SRT. Not knocking your dream, just doesn't make sense to me from the standpoint that the Limited is a much cheaper base to start with, and you already have it!

It's the other comments you made in the thread that got us off on the tangent....So you posted this in the SRT8 portion and expected to get any other response?

NH...I agree that there are a ton of them out there and to be different, doing a WK up that could match or exceed the offroad prowess of a Wrangler is a feat in itself. Just look at the availability of different suspension options. You're more limited than you are with the wrangler.
Which again, is why people choose the wrangler. More parts = cheaper parts, which, of course, like to break when offroading.

Proving me wrong that Wranglers are less capable would be near impossible. If you take dollar for dollar in modifications on both vehicles. The wrangler will go further with your money. Guaranteed.

That's what it's design is for. Take a 500 mile road trip in a Wrangler and you're hating life. That's what the Grand Cherokee is for.

I know we'll have to agree to disagree, but like Elvis said...What's the point of the forum if we can't "discuss" these very important topics!
