Thinking about trading for an 06 SRT... Need Advice

Well I have been looking around for the right deal, and I have come across a 2006 WK1 SRT8 that I am seriously considering trading my 2006 laredo in for. I am trying to make an overall smart decision, and was looking for some advice from everyone.

2006 SRT8 with 53,000 miles
Inferno Red
Asking Price $28,978

The jeep has some minor mods but for the most part is stock. It looks like the previous owner changed the color of the mesh in the grill (easy fix to put put it back to a black color) and they swapped the SRT roof rack to the laredo- which I see alot here in Denver. It looks like there is a homemade CAI as well which can be changed easily. New Conti Tires.

I am hoping to get the SRT for under 25k which would put my payments at or about the same... no worries

Insurance quote came back at $6 additional per month... no worries

My only question at this point is the increase cost of fuel?? How much difference do you think I should expect to see from the 3.7 (which blows on gas anyway) to the 6.1??

My fiance and I work for the same company, so we switch off driving every day. This puts me driving to and from work at most 3 days a week. It would be a round trip of 40 miles on driving days.

Just trying to get some input from the peeps that actually drive these from day to day.

Any advice on getting the dealer down in price?? I owe just over 10k on my laredo so I have to deal with that to...

That price is kinda high for the 06.

Mods don't matter for the dealership so don't let them try to BS you on that.

It will eat more fuel, but it all depends on how you drive it and the traffic conditions (city/highway).

Mid to low 20's out the door and I'd say go for it, depending on everything checking out.

Yea I am shooting for around 22k-23k for the year and mielage. I want to have it inspected by a reputable shop prior to the purchase. I feel like I would be asking a lot, but if the stealership wants a sale they will bite.

Where do you guys live? Around here you can't find a cheap SRT anywhere. The dealership near me wants 30 grand for a beat up 06 with 75,000 miles.

Live in Denver. They are very proud of them out here. hard to find one priced below 28k even with high miles.

Thank you for all of the advice guys. The dealer was not willing to budge on the price AT ALL. It was a terrible experience, but made the decision easy for me. I will just keep looking and when the right one comes up I can try to get it. Id prefer to have a steel blue so maybe I can find one in my price range.

I guess my only concern with that is having to sell my jeep private party, since I dont own it outright, and trying to make the timing work. Selling of one and the purchase of another. I completely agree with looking around the country, but for simplicity and timimg, I was hoping to work with a local dealer. BUT I know that comes at a cost.

I will definitly keep my eyes out around the country, I really want to get my hands on a Steel Blue or Inferno depending on year, condition... blah blah blah

Well I think I have stumbled across a VERY CLEAN truck but was curious as to what you guys would say a reasonable price would be.

2006 with ONLY 19,000 miles.
One owner
Clean Carfax

Dealer wants 34k... seems high to me but does the low miles justify the increased price??

some 06 were pretty bare on the inside. no nav. no roof.

by 08 they all came loaded. black interior. possibility of OEM projectors.
red brembos.

have you spoken to Bill Oakley; he mentioned to me he may be ready to move his 06. has mid 30K miles, nav and roof, Vortech.

never raced. dealer serviced 100%.

might be worth a minute to touch base with him.

I did not know he was looking to get out of his. I doubt with the blower and mods he has we could get to 25k...

exactly...

I have put the search on hold for now. Our new house just got hit hard with hail a few weeks ago and the deductible ate up any part of the down payment I was looking to use. No rush for me, Ill wait for the right one and get exactly what I want.
