Yeah my parents build an almost 4k sq ft house on the Indian Reservation but they don't pay property tax cause it's on the reservation. That house will be in the family forever but I only like living out there 3 months out of the year. And If the town knew I converted the space above my garage into a media room I'd be paying more in taxes but I'll deal with that when I go to sell. LOL

Been dumping as much money as I can into a house since I was 21 (I'm 35 now). Moved 2 years ago and put down 85%. My property taxes cost me more each month than the mortgage.

Re: What kind of payments...

Oh and in my payments about 3500 of my remaining lease payments are rolled in. Thats why my payments are 730 instead of being in the 600's. I really wanted the SRT badly. LOL

You must have bought your house twenty years ago or you put a shitload down. I am looking to buy a house in the northwest burbs. No shot at a $500 mortgage even in this market. More like $1200-$1500.

Good job Mike!!
I put down 35% which I'm scared may equal your 85%! Housing prices on Long Island SUCK. Taxes? I pay $770 per month added into my mortgage. INSANE.

That's the rent on our 3-bedroom apt! I read through this thread and other posts and I really can't imagine what you all earn to afford such lavish lives! When I was selling cars it was the same thing. I come to the table with $7-800/month payments, and many people don't even bat an eye! Add to that I know what their mortgage payments are(credit ap), and I'd have to take a break to pick my jaw up off the floor. Even when I had my house in MI, I thought my payments were high at $700 total/month.

My 565 doesnt sound so bad right now. I did the math, I can get a basically fully loaded srt for like 42k after incentive so with my trade-in and like 2k down I should be able to get into the 500's. That is if I can get 10k trade-in on an 05' Laredo. I'll wait to spring and see how much I enjoy 0 payments and if I feel like taking on almost 600 a month again.

That's my next plan. Cash out and move in the sticks. My GF wants to move to Long Island City, Queens, NY and were looking at a 600k mortgage. I'd have to get rid of the jeep and she would use polublic transportation cause she works in the city. And that's for a 2bed 1.5 bath. Where I can have a mini mansion 45min away for that much. IDK
