Local dealer told me it would be a 2018, available around April. Kinda like my '14 JGC, bought in April of '13. Our local car show was last weekend, guess we didn't rate a look at the new Compass. Disadvantage of a small town. Looks like I'll be heading to Cleveland in a couple of weeks to have a look see.
Looks like you can't get an auto tranny without getting stuck with the engine start/stop feature. Kinda overkill with a 4 cyl. engine. Wonder if it's always default enabled like the GC? If so, that's just plain stupid, and might be a deal breaker. We would be driving mostly quick stop and go city traffic, and would find this a pain. Can it at least be defeated at each engine start up?
You can defeat it every time you start the engine. Better yet, a member here has developed a plug-in device that lets you set the default for either on or off. It's presently available for the GC and Durango, but I imagine he will make it available for other FCA models in due course.
I'm more concerned with the early reviews suggesting the new Compass is woefully underpowered in its US configuration. Very disappointing.
Any chance the 2018 will see a better engine option?
I just ordered one over the weekend, and apparently my dealer is receiving a limited model in mid april, its already out for delivery. not sure if it depends when dealers put their orders in? (I'm in toronto area so i would be sure the us would get theirs sooner?)
Just be sure you are ordering the correct one (new refreshed updated model). If I understand correctly both the newer and older will be built and sold as a 2017. That is just my understanding; sorry if I am wrong.
I ordered my redline TrailHawk last Saturday, haven't heard anything from my dealer yet, but I noticed a new Jeep Compass listed in their inventory on their website ("in transit") with the same specs as mine. I was 99% this was mine, confirmed when I called jeep customer service, they said they are getting ready to build, all the parts are there. I'm excited! Although I have no VON from the dealer, I have a VIN! that's a start.
Awesome! I ordered the limited two weeks ago, -and i got a vin ao im able to get tracking on here! It currently in d1 stage meaning its scheduled to be built! Maybe they previously ordered that teailhawk and it just so happens to be the same as what you want so theyre giving you that one! So you might get it earlier then some, since ive seen some compass' hit dealer already!
My dealer just called and said he has four Trailhawks in transit. Seems like they're running Trailhawks pretty heavy for initial U.S. inventory. Can't wait to test drive one.
This was hard not having to negotiate a price. Here the msrp for the limited model is 36,895 unc freight and an air tax, i got the moon roof which was roughly 1600 so my total msrp was roughly 38.5k i got the vehicle for 34k all in no fees or anything. Now im sure i could have got it for less but at the time i had no idea what the invoice price was. I assumed 1k below invoice aswell. Maybe i could have got it for way less, but oh well it is what it is atleast im not paying full price haha
