Re: 13 second passes in the 5.7 turbo cherokee

Here is an example of what I was talking about in regard to everyone dealing with torque management.

This was from an actual SRT-8 cherokee time slip.

13.067@102.684/1.823 60'/8.331 1/8th.

The important thing is that everyone of us with a 4.7 or 5.7 are leaving a lot on the table due to our torque management.

At 102.5 mph, and a 1.8 60ft where would my ET have been at? Around 13.1 seconds.

Now I could throw a 50 shot on there for off the line and just blow torque manaegement out of the water, but I am trying to work within the factory stock parameters as that would be where a lot of customers would be at with their setup.

Re: 13 second passes in the 5.7 turbo cherokee

I thank you for doing the grand cherokee world a freakin service in devoloping this stuff!

In regards to the torque management, would that explain why when i test my 0-60mph with my superchips, the 0-40mph time hardly ever changes. But the 0-60 and 0-50 times have gotten faster than stock? If i straight floor it off the line, it will sometimes really lag for almost a full second before it takes off, where as sometimes if i ease into it off the line it feels like it's actually a little quicker.

Re: 13 second passes in the 5.7 turbo cherokee

Nice runs bro..... why don't you try to get ahold of Andy at Modern Horsepower and see what he can do with your TCM to get rid of some of the TM? Their TCM's have been working pretty damn good in the SRT8's. Hopefully he can raise some of your shift points too. It's worth a shot.

You are absolutely correct! It feels like a slug below 45 mph where torque mangement shuts off.

Normally being able to launch under boost as I can should really help the 60ft time, but with our setup (torque management), it actually hurts and causes TM to be even more intrusive. My best times were off idle not loading under boost. Go figure, it knows better whats good for me! Yeah right.......

That is an option that I will explore. But, since this is a development vehicle, we work through the various combinations to show what can be achieved on a stock vehicle, and now we will be looking at the things required to improve on that so we can give a true picture of whats involved.

Next is to see what the predator can do if anything to turn off TM.

Regarding shift points, I will need to see a dyno graph to see if it will actually help or not.

TM is TM...... nothing really you can do to get around it unless you can crack into the TCM. Once you've reached the "threshold" of power for the TM, it'll rob you power every time. I doubt the Pred. will let you do anything. Hope so but I highly doubt it since we can't do anything with it on the SRT8's. You can manipulate it some with the CMR software but not like you can by cracking the TCM. Hope it works out for ya though. Give Andy a shout and see what he thinks though. Him and Henney(cough cough dear God) have been the only people with real proven TCM mods.

Are you spinning your tires off the line?

No there is no spin off the line. If I can't address it any other way, I will definitely be looking at the TCM. I will either get around it, or throw more at it to see how far it will go before it can't pull anymore power away from it.

I am not sure what the predator can do either, haven't checked on it as of yet either.

I haven't had the time to study up on how TM works, but am sure I will figure something out.

I swear "Flag-On" told me that the Predator could get around TM?
