With my wife's '02 WJ
The plug that holds the throttle cable broke as I stomped on it coming off the line. Walter the announcer said "Oh oh... Mario's wife ain't going to be happy when she finds out...."
Luckily I was able to drive it back to the pits and fix it there.
I asked a guy that had a trailer with a race car if he had anything to hold that cable in place and his son that was about 8 yrs old said "Why not use wire ties?" So I took the wire ties and it worked
. I came back and gave the kid $20 and he got super happy.
His father said, "The only way we'll know if it's going to work is if it goes down the track", so I did... I had not much feel for the pedal and probably didn't even go full throttle but still I ran a 16.1.
Those guys were very helpful, they even told me that if it brakes again and we couldn't fix it again they would tow me back home.
That was my only run, I didn't wanted to put any more stress on the quick fix and came home right after, and it held great throughout the whole trip.
So I'll be calling Peter at justforjeeps tomorrow to order that part.
Here's the pictures of what broke and the wire tie fix.
