Don't know what ur jeep can take. I have a 2008 liberty diesel and a 1984 cj diesel (heavily modified). Tomorrow I'm getting a 08 WJ (Grand Cherokee) Diesel.
Ur jeep has 4wd, so it can likely go off road just fine. If your Jeep is " trail rated", you'll have extra skid plate(s), which will protect your drivetrain off-road. Also, you will really risk ur tires if you go over heavy rocks, so be fore-warned. If you plan to wheel semi often, get a spare set of 5 wheels with cheaper rims and AT tires. (Think craigslist). You know you'll want to "air down" off road, better traction, less bouncing, of course if you do, better figure out how to "air up" afterwords. Some guys have compressors on the rigs, but that is a bit much to start. You'll also want to have a decent jack, and maybe some tow hooks installed, cause if you don't get stuck..u ain't doing it right
As far as local help..dunno, but if this forum can't help, I bet there's one local to you. Find ur local offroad shop, ask em.
Welcome, and good luck.
