2000 WJ with 160,000, 4.7L, grinding with vibration

Evening all
I am just joining and reading through threads. I see the Jeeps have many vibration and drivetrain noise issues.
I am in the group now. Over the last year started to have front end vibration and grinding noises. Checked wheels to rotate fine. CV joints I figured, but no real play.
U joints seem to be good, today put up on 4 jack stands and ran with tires spinning, to hear outside Jeep. Not much noise from the CV joints, grinding sounds solid and some noise from the tranny/ transfer case area.

I did notice the drivers front wheel is a bit stiffer to rotate and need to give more gas to get it spinning. The grinding was more pronounced when on the road driving.

Any ideas on how to isolate are appreciated.
Thanks Much

Welcome to the garage.
Did you check the front diff and the T-case fluid level and check for any metal shavings in it?
Could well be a wheel bearing. Does the noise change when steering a bit left right?

I checked front diff and transfer fluids nice an clean.
Spun the wheel and seems close to the opposite side. No dragging noises heard.
Only difference I really noted was with all 4 wheels off and in gear. Frt left wheel takes more gas to get it spinning like some dragging.
It seems the next step is just pull apart the wheel hub and CV joint to check it.
It does make a bit more noise to left or right that made me think of CV first yet never had a CV joint give the vibrations I get.
