Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Welcome to the garage.
Is the EVIC completely dead, or only showing dashes? Power locks still ok? All indication on instrument panel ok?

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Did it all stop working at the same time? Sofar i couldnīt find a common power source or common ground for those three systems.

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Probably one common thing is the body control module (BCM), since it switches the DRL and via the PCI data bus is involved in the EVIC and power windows. The BCM sometimes can freeze up and cause several systems to stop working. I would try a battery disconnect for some minutes and try again. If you still have the basic jeep radio, then you will need the radio security code to get it working again after the battery reset.

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Thanks for the help, I will try the battery disconnect. Where would I find the radio codes?

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

If you still have the owners manual, then it can be handwritten in there. Otherwise the stealer.

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Here's another problem, if I start the Jeep and then try and turn the headlights on they don't work, but if I turn the headlights on, then start the jeep they work.
The EVIC, some things work, no temp or fuel mileage .
Do you think it's all connected to the BCM?
Where is it located??

Thanks for your help

Re: 2002 grand cherokee

Low beam relay is switched via the BCM. The EVIC data for mpg comes from the BCM, and the temperature data from the BCM.
So a good change that resetting the BCM will solve the problem. Not sure if its enough, but you can pull the BCM fuses for some minutes and see if that works. It saves you a trip to the stealer for the radio code.
The three fuses for the BCM all sit on the junction block, the relay and fuse panel down below the drivers instrument panel area. It are fuse 7, 22 and 28 (all 10A fuses). You will not have to mess with it now, but the BCM is back to back mounted to the junction block.
