I am joinging this site because I am not new to the JEEP world. I have had three over the past 10 years. One year and chage ago, I leased the new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am disappointed. Over the past 3 months, it has been in the shop more then I have actually gotten to drive it. It is making an odd cranking sound in the front end as well as a high pitch whistle. They, at first, contributed the cranking nose to my rotors! Needless to say, I very unhappy and I truly did not feel that it was my breaks, but I allowed them to shave down my rotors. Again, the trcuk has 16K miles and was just over a year old, so I was angry, but believed them. I got the truck back, and the noise started again. In addition the power steering whistle began and has gotten worse. At that point, the replaced something under the front end that contributes to a rile bar? I do not know. The whistling, although recognized, was a mystery. Car was returned to me. Noises began again, truck went back. The cranking noise in the front was now diagnosed as a strut! They claimed to have replaced the strut & gave it back. The whistling noise had to wait for a specialist who travels to the East coast to come and visit. Trcu is back and same day? Cranking noise starts. The Service manager says that he did not replace the strut, but rather OILED IT!!!! Truck is now back for that as well as the whistling in the steering because the specialist is there. Apparently, they test drove other cherokees on the lost, and they to, make the high pitch noise! I was told that it is the motor. When they disconnect the motor, the whistling stops! Therefore, they cannot do anything about that. I have to live with that. The cranking? The specialist heard that as well as heard it in other Jeeps, but I have heard nothing about what they are doing to fix the problem. Today is 2 weeks I having to drive a courtesy car and being without my Cherokee. My truck has been in and out of the shop over the past 3/4 months then I have had it. ANyone else having such problems? How do I handle this? What can I do?
