Re: 2014 cherokee first post

I have a Jeep Cherokee Limited that will be one year old in a couple of weeks. I know people find my advice odd but I find people have more problems with that 9 speed transmission after throwing TSBs/flashes at it. I find if you take the advice of that famous race car driver Rickey Bobby to drive it like you stole it is the best thing for it. Even the owner's manual advises short bursts of acceleration. As to the check engine light that could be several things from not getting the gas cap back tight, overfilling the gas tank, bad oxygen sensor, etc. I doubt highly your transmission had anything to do with it coming on.

I assume properly breaking in the engine help... but there's a lot of discussions as to what is the best way to break in the engine.. taking it slow... or drive it like you stole it.... personally, I will be following what the manual recommends.. taking it slow but don't baby it... drive it like you would eventually... (no full throttle acceleration from a full stop/low gear)..

It is your vehicle to do what you want with. All I know is my method worked fine for me. I have had no problems with my transmission what so ever. But then again I have kept my dealer's service department away from it. I have not had one TSB/flash done to the transmission and mine is perfect so far.
