4.0 overheat

My mother just overheated her 1994 ZJ, to the point it stopped running. Now have low compression in #1 cylinder. Idles rough, but seems have power and acceleration. Hope it can last through the winter

Crate motors for the 4.0 are readily available...

At least a head gasket is gone, possibly also the head itself.
I'd keep an eye on it for any coolant loss, as if there is a leak between the cylinder and the coolant passages, as the engine cools down it can suck coolant into the cylinder and from there very bad things can happen when the engine turns over--or more correctly tries to turn over.
