'99 Cherokee starting problem

Hello to all. I could use a little insight. I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee that has a starting problem. When I turn the switch to start, I hear a snap and lose all electrical power. No fuses are blown. After a few minutes, the power comes back. I have replaced the plugs, plug wires, distributer cap & button, ignition coil, starter relay, and starter. Had the battery checked, it checked good and it's a new battery. If I disconnect the wire from the relay to the starter solenoid, the power stays on. This makes me think that the problem isn't in the ignition switch, but further down the line, or I've got a faulty starter solenoid. I've checked the neutral switch. It checked OK. Any suggestions?

Re: '99 Cherokee starting problem

Welcome to the garage. I would have a look at the battery terminals and at the cable ends which goes into the terminals. On the WJ it happened already several times that corrosion of the cables caused high resistance and problems as you described. Also check the battery negative cable to ground.
