Balance and shimmy in the wheel

2014 JGC Overland. Replaced orig Goodyear rubber at 53k (tires ran and performed flawlessly) with Michelin Premier LTX's. . Thought I could do better with road noise. 4 four-wheel balances later (3 at tire dealership and one where I bought the jeep new), I still have shimmy between 65-75. Asked Goodyear to replace with new set of same Mich. STILL, have a shimmy on the highway. Incredibly frustrating.

Anyone have similar experiences- Suggestions??Thanks

Re: Balance and shimmy in the wheel

I'm curious... why would you ask Goodyear to replace 53K mile tires with Michelin?

There are a lot of threads out here dealing with balance and shimmy issues with the 20's. A search will provide you with enough reading material for a few days.

Re: Balance and shimmy in the wheel

have them roadforced balanced with SMART weight off.

there's a thread in the SRT section that covers this.

Re: Balance and shimmy in the wheel

lots of threads on this, typically it comes down to they are just not being precise enough on the balancing. as stated above make sure they are road force balancing with smart weight off. here is a step by step that was done by someone that understands all this well.

Steering wheel shimmy anybody?

Thanks
After posting, I dove in and found a ton of information. I'm off to a road force balancing location. Hope that cleans things up

Re: Balance and shimmy in the wheel

I would recommend going to a location without a Roadforce Balancer.
