Convert from electric to mechanical radiator fan

I've looked in a few forum sites without luck, I hope I get answers here. I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0, automatic transmission, 4X4 that I need to change the electric radiator fan to a mechanical fan. Near as I can tell there is a optional clutch fan available and the center of the pulley is threaded but what I really want is to put a straight mechanical fan blade on so it will cool adequately. I live in Coolidge Arizona and we are already experiencing temps up to 114 degrees so I feel a constant fan flow would best work for my vehicle. The center of the threaded opening at the pulley appears to be approximately 1 1/4" in diameter and the opening at the shroud is about 18 1/2 inches in diameter. I've check local parts houses without much success and didn't see an option in JC Whitney. Anyone have some sources I can try?

Re: Convert from electric to mechanical radiator fan

I think you'll end up happier with a beefy electric fan.. that will be able to cool well even at idle.

A straight mechanical fan that moves enough air at idle is going to roar at speed.

Not sure if you have ever owned a WJ they are known for burning up the Fan relays under the headlights causing an overheat.

the best is a mech and electrical fan combo.

The Mechanical fan isn't going to let you down 99% of the time. And WJ's What is MPG?

you can buy a Hummer h3 inline 5 plastic 11 blade fan also or a do a 7 blade fan.

Autozone etc sells a hayden Heavy Duty Fan clutch that stays locked over 60% of the time.
